Will let calm wash over John as he gave him a lazy smile. "Oh really? I am sorry to hear that. How happy must you be to have had all this time to yourself?"

 

"Both of you seemed to be okay apart... which is why you should let each other be, no doubt," Lestat muttered.

 

"Um," Edward muttered, feeling Lestat's warning in his mind. "It won't work at all unless you are right next to me, pretty much... trust me."

 

John tried to fight the calm that was pushing on him. "I'd like to be let be."

"Then I'll stay right next to you." Hannah smiled, but shivered when Beatrice's cold hand came to her forehead. "What?"

"Sorry," Beatrice to her hand away. "I just wanted to see if you were still warm.... You are."

Hannah sighed. "You're overreacting, Bee. I'll be fine in a day or so." She paused. "I think. Well, I've never done this before so I don't reallly know."

Beatrice smiled at her new nickname. "Why don't you talk about something hapy then? You know, to get your mind off it a bit more. You had started to tell me about your parents."

"That's not exactly happy." Hannah muttered. "And I'd rather Edward didn't hear that story."

"Oh," Beatrice looked at Edward. "Do you have anything you want to know?"

 

Will pushed a wave of bliss over John, smirking as the man seemed to just let go. Then he made fear crash down on him, without any warning. "yes, but that's not going to happen, boy, now is it?" he asked, his voice almost soothing, but edged with malice.

 

John rooted his feet in the ground so he wouldn't back up. "Why can't you just let me alone?"

 

"Because you're still alive child." Will hissed, still smiling and stilling forcing fear over John. "And I just can't accept that. Don't worry though, I won't be the one to harm a hair on your pathetic head. But you will die, remember that while you continue your worthless effort to get that pathetic newborn of a girl."

 

"She's mine." John tried to growl, but it came out as a barely audiable whisper.

 

"Yes yes." Will waved away the statement, "So you claim. But what will she matter when you're dead. She won't cry, she won't care. And no one else will either. Your death will be a celebration for them. and no one else will notice." He made every sentence cut into John by throwing fear, sorrow, or loneliness onto him; smiling soothinly the entire time.

 

John managed to exert enough selfcontrol to turn his back on Will. "Get away from me."

 

Will gave him a quick bow. "As you wish boy." he turned his back on the two and walked away at a fast vampire speed. The emotions seemed to fall away from John slowly as Will got farther from them.

 

John cursed Will under his breath and then turned back to Lestat. "My apologies for the interruption."

 

"Not really," Edward smiled. "Sharing isn't a strong point in our group, though if either of you think you have any information that can help us finish this... process faster, than that would be a good thing to divulge at any time."

 

"No, I apologize," Lestat replied with some sympathy. "I've never seen or felt someone have a hold like that on anyone, especially you. It makes me feel almost grateful my maker is long dead."

 

Hannah sighed, closing her eyes. "I'm sure we'll able to do just fine with what we know."

She really doesn't want to tell them.... Beatrice frowned. But why did she bother to tell me then?I guess she was just feeling so guilty about it that she had to tell someone. She trusted me so I'll keep my mouth shut for her.

John raised an eyebrow. "But you're still alive. How is it that you're maker is dead and you are not?"

 

"I guess," Edward agreed. "Now we have to wait till the sun goes down to start off again... I hope Carl knows where we're headed. Do you feel strong enough to travel?" He saw the same question forming in Hannah's eyes and added quickly, "I'm fine. No thanks to Lestat, I will heal but very, very slowly. It's more annoying than painful."

 

"My generation of vampires is different than yours," Lestat explained with the smallest smile. "The one who made me... well, I knew him for a few hours. He taught me nothing but where to sleep and where all his wealth was, and then he killed himself. I was on my own to learn all that I have so much knowledge about now."

 

"I'll be fine if I keep an empty stomach." Hannah said softly, starting to drift back to sleep. "Don't do anything to hurt yourself."

Beatrice bit her lip and stood, starting to pace. She had almost fully forgotten that Edward and Hannah were right next to her. I don't think we should keep secrets though. But that means I'll have to tell everyone about Sorin.... Jinx seemed happy enough about it, maybe the others will be too. But if it's a bad thing, I don't want to bother Hannah with it. She has too much to worry about. She sighed quietly. Nightmares and reality.

"I see. So I'm assuming Beatrice will be the same as your generation rather than mine or Will's." John thought aloud.

 

"Unfortunately, saving your life and ending John's will hurt me... quite a bit," Edward said, smiling grimly. "But don't worry about it; rest, if you can, and Beatrice and I can wake you in a few hours when the sun goes down."

 

"I would assume so," Lestat shrugged. "I don't really care... what becomes of her is her choice; whatever generation's restrictions, rules, and qualities she posessess... well, we'll see."
