"I've heard of them, and seen plenty." Jinx frowned. "All it does, usually, is make people miserable." she gave Beatice a serious look, "And considering what you are doing right now... does your family even know where you are or when you're coming back?"

 

Beatrice shook her head. "That could work to my advantage," She thought aloud. "I really don't want to marry someone I've never seen before."

 

"Exactly... so why does the arranged marrige mean anything if you won't be there?" Jinx asked, not understanding what was so complicated.

 

"So you're saying I shouldn't go back?" Beatrice questioned.

 

"Love isn't a parents choice. yes, I don't think you should go back. But of course that is your choice and depends on how much you love your family and if you want to be with them." Jinx answered.

 

"I do want to be with them," Beatrice said quickly. "But now... now that I'm this.... I don't know if I can....."

 

"That's true too..." Jinx agreed, sadly. "But if you went back, just supposing, what would happen... do you think?"

 

Beatrice shuddered at the thought. "Either me or my family would wind up dead." She answered quietly.

 

Jinx nodded. "So, I guess your stuck here with us for at least the time being... maybe at least you can find real love, not arraged marrige love, with us. right?"

 

"But vampires can't-" Beatrice cut herself off, remembering Hannah. "Well, I thought the couldn't love."

 

"Maybe it's another change in the generations." Jinx suggested. "Maybe you and Hannah and other newborns from here on can." she smiled. "I think you've shown signs of being able, and she obviously can."

 

"What do you mean I've 'shown signs'?" Beatrice gave Jinx a confused look.

 

"I already told you I think you're falling for Carl." Jinx shrugged. "I mean you've said about how he looks at you and you freeze. You're confused about how you feel about him now. You didn't do anything when you two were alone and you're vampire instincts keep telling you to attack." she listed off. "Just my opinion. Oh yeah, and you love Sorin, which proves you can love to begin with, at least on that level. Why not a higher one?"

 

Beatrice lowered her eyes. "Maybe you're right. About Sorin...."

 

"Sure, about Sorin." Jinx smiled at Beatrice. "That's it right?"

 

"Well, I went to see him earlier and...." Beatrice hesiated.

BIC: Jinx stayed quiet, letting Beatice go on when she felt ready.

 

Beatrice looked at the ground. "Well... I was talking to him, like I always do, but this time... I heard him talk back to me. I think all this adventure has gotten to my head."

 

Jinx suddenly hugged Beatice tightly enough to seriously hurt a human, though not a vampire. "I think you've found your gift." she controdicted, letting her go.

 

"Oh," Beatrice smiled. "That makes more sense. Should I tell the others?"
