Van Helsing

Beatrice suppressed a giggle.

 

Jinx smiled, Oh, I see things are not going well here.

 

"I doubt it," Van Helsing smiled, not offended. "The point is, I have a question that I have been meaning to ask you the last few days, but other things have gotten in the way."

 

"Ask away," Edward replied, trying to smile politely. The man was getting on his nerves.

 

Hannah hesitated for a moment. The boy looked so defenseless. She felt guilt well up in her as her fangs sunk into his neck, but it was gone the moment she felt the sweet liquid flow out of the boy. She felt some of her discomfort vanish.

I hope they don't hurt each other.... Beatrice thought, seeing how Van Helsing and Edward were acting.

 

"That extra day we had in Rome, you went off by yourself somewhere," Van Helsing began. "Where were you?"

 

Edward frowned. "The library," he said simply. "Why?"

 

Hannah pulled out of the boy when she heard his heart stop. She slumped back onto the bed. I remember that so well.... I hate how I enjoy it.... She cursed aloud. Why do I want more?!

Hm.... I hope Sorin is feeling comfortable in his stable. Beatrice's mind started to wander.

 

"The library," Van Helsing repeated. "What was so interesting there?"

 

"Books," Edward snapped, losing his patience. "Why do you need to know?"

 

Jinx turned her attention outside, watching the people going about their lives on the street.

 

"I'm going to see Sorin." Beatrice blurted, getting uncomfortable with the situation. SHe stood up and headed out the door. Jeez... those two need to calm down.

 

Jinx watched her go and then turned back to the window, also not so keen to be in the room with the two of them right then.

 

"Because I'm tired of you keeping secrets from all of us," Van Helsing snapped, standing up from his chair. "I'm tired of you keeping things from everyone else here... we're a team, Edward. A group that cannot function toward a main goal if we're divided by separate desires. It would be wonderful, then, if you can share with everyone what you know."

 

Edward sighed. "If you expect one bit of respect from me at all," he hissed, stepping over to Van Helsing, "you will be a little more kind to me and control your heartfelt speaches. I know perfectly well what you're talking about, and just because you don't have someone that loves you with you doesn't me you have an excuse to scream and demand answers to everything!"

 

That was impressive, Hannah, John sent to Hannah. It comes naturally to someone like you. I'd be happy to fill your wish for more.

"Get out of my head!" Hannah yelled, curling back into her ball on the bed.

Beatrice hurried her way to the stables and went into Sorin's stall. "I'm so confused, Sorin..." She wrapped her arms around the gelding's neck and burying her face in his mane. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen.... All the pain Hannah is going through. I can't do anything to help. I'm just making things worse. And I'm sorry for dragging you through all this."

I'm enjoying it. This is a nice change from all the constant farm work.

Beatrice pulled away. "Sorin...?"

 

"I can very well kill you," Van Helsing retorted after a moment.

 

Edward laughed, stepping back toward the door. "Please," he sighed. "There's no way in the world you could do anything to me at this point. I know all your weaknesses and strengths, so... no empty threats are necessary."

He gave Jinx and Carl small nods and then left, knocking on Hannah's door across the hall. "Busy?" he asked quietly.

 

"Well, that went about as well as to be expected. He really should stop keeping secrets from us, well at least the ones that affect us." Jinx said, as he left the room.

Carl sighed, "Yeah, this is only going to get worse and worse, if he continues."

 

I see you're friend is back. John sighed. I'll let you be for now.

Hannah slowly uncurled from her ball and sat up. "I just want to be alone." She yelled at the door.

Yes?

Beatrice felt her lips curve into a smile. "Thanks for being with me through all of this."
