Van Helsing

"Do not worry, Edward," Lestat said aloud. "You'll be fine. But in the mean time, I need to stay on John's good side. You know that. And, if he needs to speak with Hannah, I will stop you from getting in the way."

 

"Yeah..." Jinx confirmed, looking disgusted at the thought. "But, if it will help her, then it's what needs to be done. I'll be back in a little bit." she squared her shoulders and walked out of the room and down the hall. "Let's see how much I remember about hunting like this." she said to herself, already planning what she was going to do.

"Yeah, she's probably somewhere in the town." Carl said.

 

Edward cringed. "I suppose I understand. Now, where is this hunter? I need to find him... now."

 

"Probably," Van Helsing muttered. "I hope I can find her. What will you do while I'm out?"

 

Lestat frowned. "You should wait till the full moon if you really are planning what's going through your head. You'll have more strength."

 

Beatrice looked out the window. This is wrong.... I hope Carl won't be too upset about it. She thought, Van Helsing not even crossing her mind.

 

Edward growled. "No," he argued. "I..." but he sighed, knowing Lestat was right. "I'll wait till then to kill him, but you need to tell me where he is now. I want to talk to him first... find out what the hell he's doing, what's his motives... Lestat-"

 

"Oh, don't beg me again, my dear boy," Lestat cut off Edward, laughing. "Go to the stables. I'll kill you myself if you do anything stupid."

 

"Probably more research or something." Carl shrugged.

Jinx threw a glamor over herself before she passed Van Helsing and Carl and went out into the town. She walked casualy, staying a little near the inn, around the town. She spotted a younge man that smelled good and looked flushed. I am so sorry... she silently aplogized to him as she waited for him to get closer. Then she made herself trip, hard onto the pavment. "Ow!" she yelled, holding onto her leg and biting her lip hard.

 

"Alright, then," Van Helsing laughed, standing. "I will be back soon."

He went out of the tavern, walking casually, his hat low and his mind wandering. He couldn't see any tracks or hear and sounds, so he waited. I'll find something, he thought to himself.

 

"Thank you," Edward said, and held out his hand. Lestat hesitated for a moment, and then took it, shaking it firmly. "I owe you my life, in a way," Edward muttered, stepping back now. "I will find you later."

He headed off toward the stables, trying not to let his anger consume him. Lestat's words were enough to keep in it in the back of his mind. I could so easily die from doing what he said, he thought. But I will try.

 

Jake finished accomodating his horse and looked around the stables. This place needs a stable boy.

 

Jinx added something to her glamor to make her leg start to 'bleed'. The boy stopped and knelt by her. "Are you alright miss?" she shook her head.
"My leg hurts..." she said shakily, trying to stand up and falling back down. He caught her before she hit the ground and put her arm over his shoulder.
"Here, I'll take you home. That looks awful." he took her weight on his shoulders. "Where do you live?"
"I have a, a room in in the inn." she answered, leaning heavily on him. He nodded and smiled at her as they started walking back to the inn.

 

Van Helsing saw some familiar tracks, leading off into the poorer section of the town. the houses were smaller, blending into the edge of the woods close by. He put a hand on his gun, running his fingers over the handle lightly.

 

Edward reached the stables and approached them slowly, only a few oil lamps hung in the rafters for light. He saw a man in the far back, and a wave of fear passed through him. He ignored Lestat's chuckle in his head and called out:

"You're not very smart, are you?"

 

"I could say the same about you." Jake turned around to face Edward. "What brings you to these stables so late?" He leaned against his stallion's stall door and casually started to load his second gun.

 

Jinx directed him to their room, making sure to wince and lean on him at the right times until they reached the room, then she stepped away from him and pressed her fingers hard onto the pressure on his neck.
"What are you doing?" he asked, surprised.
"Boy, I am so sorry to do this. You're going to heaven and I'm going to hell because of it, but believe me your helping someone who really needs it." she said, and soon he slumped into her arms. She sighed and brought him into the room. "is she awake yet?"

 

The tracks led Van Helsing to a house, a beaten little shack who's roof was falling off and windows were hanging off hinges. He leaned against the front door, pulling out his gun, testing its weight. With a small shove of his shoulder, he pushed the door open. The main room inside was dark and smelled like mildew, his nose wrinkling the moment he stepped inside.

"Hello?" he called out, though he sensed there was someone there already. "Anyone here?"

 

"Checking on my horses," Edward said, walking over to Lexi and Sorin. "And," he added, "telling you to stay away from my friends."

 

Jake paused loading his bullets. "What friends, my good sir? I've just arrived here and I haven't had the time to meet anyone." He put the last bullets in while piecing together that this werewolf must be the one traveling with the vamires.
