"No, I don't think she'll be okay." Jinx answered Beatice, walking out of the room.

Carl opened the next door to their other room and walked, the other's following.

Jinx flexed her hands and sat on the edge of the bed, thinking.

 

"I'm angry at myself," Edward growled, looking away from her. "For not being there. I'll be leaving soon, anyway. He can't have gotten far."

 

"Who thinks we should all go out and hunt this hunter tonight and finish him?" Van Helsing asked abruptly, as soon as the door was shut. "Hmm?"

 

Beatrice shook her head fervently. "He's... well, frightening. And big. And... and... creepy!"

"I'm the one who told you not to come." Hannah reminded Edward. "I was the one who bit him. You can't possibly think this is your fault."

 

"I know," Edward sighed angrily. "That doesn't matter. I'll kill him anyway... and I have plenty of ways I can think of doing it without even changing."

 

"It's a good idea, though," Van Helsing insisted. "Don't we have enough enemies already?"

 

"Yes," Beatrice admitted. "But... um...," She tried to think of something else but gave up. "I'm not going." She sat on one of the beds. "He scares me...."

"He's a werewolf, Edward." Hannah reminded him. "It's Van Helsing's job to... you know. I just don't want you to get hurt. I'll be fine, so please don't be angry."

 

"I'm leaving soon," Edward said after a moment. "I'm going to find Lestat first and then I'll find your hunter and finish him slowly. I'm not angry with you... I'll be back soon."

 

"We can wait till they're done talking to make a decision," Van Helsing said.

 

"Okay." Beatrice agreed quickly.

Hannah looked away from Edward. "You know I won't forgive you if you don't come back."

 

"I know," Edward said, a little more softly. "That's fine. I'll be back, though; Lestat won't let him kill me, I know it."

 

"I'm hungry," Van Helsing said suddenly.

 

"Promise?" Hannah looked back at Edward.

Beatrice tilted her head. "You should go get something."

 

"What kind of promise?" Edward asked with a little smile.

 

"Oh, right," Van Helsing said, smiling. "Carl and I needed normal people food!"

 

Beatrice folded her arms. "I did too once...."

"Promise that you'll come back quickly." Hannah said, not looking away from Edward.

 

"I promise," Edward whispered, looking away from her and stepping back toward the door. "I'll see you soon."

 

"You all did," Van Helsing said. "No offense intended... Carl, let's go drink!"

 

Beatrice laid down even though she wasn't tired. "Have fun."

Hannah sighed and closed her eyes. "Please be careful." She said quietly as Edward left.

 

Jake went back to the stables to see his stallion, contemplating how he would kill the two vampires he'd let escape. As he got closer to the tavern, he felt rage from one of the rooms. There's another werewolf here? This game gets better and better.
