Van Helsing

"Alright," Van Helsing said, looking sideways at Carl and shrugging, leading the way up the stairs.

 

Calm yourself, Edward, Lestat soothed as Edward climbed the stairs. Don't be rash... speak with her first. I was not there; I only heard. I'm off to eat...

 

Once Beatrice was gone, Hannah turned her head to the side and coughed out more of the werewolf's blood. Disgusting.... She thought, trying to get rid of the burning in her mouth. Edward's going to kill me.

 

Van Helsing took one of the keys from Carl and opened the door to the first room, letting the other two men in before him. He shut the door behind him.

"What's the problem, Edward?" he asked immediately.

 

Carl followed Van Hesling up the stairs and showed them where one of the room's he'd rented was.

"N, no... but..." Jinx bit her lip and looked away from him. "I mean maybe... right?"

Will shook his head, "I'm sorry, but no. Not maybe. It's impossible, Van Helsing is a hunter of vampires. You're just lucky he hasn't found a reason to kill you so far." he let a wave of fear and lonelyness was over her.

Jinx narrowed her eyes, not sure what she was feeling those for, but somehow it didn't matter. "But the others, Hannah and Beatice and Edward and Carl..."

"They barely know you, they won't miss you for very long." Will answered before she could ask. "Please dear, think about it at least?"

"I... okay... I'll think about it." Jinx sighed and rested her forehead on his chest.

"Good. You go back now, so they don't get suspicious. I'll find you again soon, when you're alone." Will kissed her before she could react and then let her go and walked off into the forest.

Jinx stood there for a moment, most of the emotions fading away as he got farther away, but the memory of them staying with her. She shook her head. "No, he got in my head again. I can't let that happen." she told herself, but now she had a harder time beleiving it herself. She smacked her forehead and practicly ran back to the inn.

 

"Nothing," Edward snapped right back, sitting on the nearest bed. "Nothing that concerns you."

 

Lestat sat up, letting Edward be. He rang the bell for service and waited by the door patiently.

God help whomever answers that,Lestat smiled to himself, straightening his collar and his curly, blonde hair. Not much of a hunt, but it will be entertaining...

 

Hannah ran her tongue along her fangs. I'm never going to bite a werewolf again. She promised herself and then thought of Jake. Why would a werewolf be a hunter in the first place? Or maybe he only hunts vampires. But wouldn't he understand, even in the least, what it's like to be like us? Or maybe he doesn't care. She sighed. No.... Werewolves don't care about us 'leeches'.

 

"Ah, I see," Van Helsing said, ignoring the malice in Edward's voice. "Well, in that case, when you get in over your head with all your secrets, I won't be there to help you."

 

"Good!" Edward sighed. "Last thing I need is you in my personal affairs."

 

Jinx walked into the inn, keeping her head down while she thought, and found her way to their room. She walked in without saying anything to anyone and sat down on the window sill.

Carl looked at Edward, "Why did you tell us to get upstairs if you don't want us to help you?" he asked.

 

Lestat smiled when a young woman answered his ring, knocking on his door.

"Please come in," he whispered, opening the door to let her pass by. He let his eyes wandering carelessly over her: a tiny, skinny body cased in a tiny, pale pink dress, light brown hair, bright green eyes... Nothing I haven't seen before, he thought happily.

"What is it you need, sir?" she asked, and Lestat stepped over to her. His bright blue eyes shifted to dark black, his hands running down either side of her soft, white skin.

"Rien, cherie," Lestat murmured, leaning down and brushing his lips against hers. He smiled when he felt her body press up against his, her arms around his shoulder. I didn't know they had girl like this in these little towns, he thought with a grin, tasting the side of her neck with the tip of his tongue. She shuddered against him, and, before she even exhaled, Lestat pushed her back on the bed, sinking only the tips of his fangs into the flesh just under her collar bone. His spell so thick on her, his arms around her waist and through her hair, she didn't even cry out. The hot blood rushed into the roof of his mouth, stinging his throat wonderfully as his cheeks flushed. She began to squirm slightly under him now, but Lestat only grinned, pushing her harder against the bed, sinking his teeth in further. Her heart quickened, and then began to slow.

Lestat sighed, pulling his teeth away from her, sitting up and smiling. "Trop facile, mon cher," he smiled in French. "Much too easy, my dear."

 

"We should all meet up here, that's why," Edward snapped, staring at his feet. "And ask the two ladies what the hell they were up to in the forest."

 

"Well they're hunting, of course." Carl said, uncomfortable with how angry Edward was. "Ask them yourself when they get back, I'm not phsycic."

Jinx gripped her hands together and stared out the window, looking at the forest.

 

"You stained your shirt." Hannah cracked a smile at Beatrice as she returned.

Beatrice looked down. "Oh... I can wash it out."

"Alright," Hannah pushed herself up, using the tree to steady herself.

Beatrice hurried over to help Hannah. "What are you going to tell everyone?"

"I missed the deer." Hannah joked. "I don't know, really. I guess the truth will have to be it. I don't want them to get paranoid and watch our every move though."

Beatrice slung Hannah's arm over her shoulder and her own under Hannah's arms, and started walking back. "I'm sure Edward will anyway."

Hannah frowned. "He is going to be so upset."

 

"That's not all, my friend," Edward hissed through his teeth. "Just wait."

 

"How are you, Jinx?" Van Helsing sighed, changing the subject and looking over at her. "Is everything alright?"

 

"Uh huh." Jinx answered, keeping her eyes on the forest outside so she wouldn't have to meet his eyes. Will, he tried to kill me. I hate him. I'm going to kill him... right? she looked at her hands. Every emotion told her to trust Will again, that she was in love with him again. But her thoughts and memories told her the opposite.

Carl looked questionly at her and then at Van Helsing. "Okay then..."

 

"I'm sure he'll be happy to see you're okay though." Beatrice said.

"I wouldn't say okay," Hannah mumbled, getting dizzy from walking.

Beatrice sighed in relief when they broke away from the trees. "I'm sorry I couldn't do more."

"Don't blame yourself." Hannah scolded. "I should have been able to tell what he was." She tried to support more of her own weight as they moved towards the tavern.

"He did smell different from other people." Beatrice confirmed. "I didn't really understand why though." She pulled more of Hannah's weight as they approached the tavern.

"I don't know which room it is." Hannah muttered. "That's why I wanted to meet outside."

 

Edward sighed, running his hands through his hair. He kept silent.
