Van Helsing

Aleera walked to Hannah, grabbing her throat. "What could you have learned in three months that would be useful against me?" She smirked, throwing Hannah into a tree. "My master wishes for you to be kept alive, Hannah, dear. You're already starting to lose yourself."

Hannah stood shakily, her fangs bared. "I've learned enough!" She shouted, forgetting who was watching. "Your 'master' won't get a thing out of me!"

"So rude." Aleera grinned. "Let us know what you think. They sky is ours." She looked at Van Helsing before taking flight.

 

Van Helsing raised his shotbow once more. "Go to hell, Aleera," he muttered, aiming.

"Already there," she shrieked, barring her teeth. "So are you!"

"Not yet!" he yelled, and fired the rest of his round of arrows at her. She screamed a horrible laugh and burst through the canopy of trees and out of sight.

 

"Are you alright?" Edward asked, going over to Hannah.

Van Helsing went over to Beatrice and tried to get her to wake. She won't be happy about her spooked horse and not knowing where it is... he thought.

 

Hannah's fangs receded. "I'm okay.... How did she know my name?" She muttered, trying to stay on her feet.

 

Beatrice's eyes blinked open. "... What happened?" She asked, sitting up and trying to remember.

 

"You seemed to know them well enough," Van Helsing muttered, helping Beatrice to her feet at the girl shook her head. "You can explain that one later."

 

Beatrice looked around, seeing two other people. Right... the brides came... What were they so upset about?

 

Edward put a hand to his face, feeling the dried blood on his cheeks. He didn't dare touch it more in case he started to bleed again and bother Hannah.

"Just let her be for a moment," Edward said to Van Helsing. He brushed a lock of hair and a smudge of dirt off of Hannah's face. "Do you want to sit down or try to look for Jinx?" he asked her.

 

"Well, miss," Van Helsing began, turning to Beatrice. "You were attacked by a vampire bride... I got her to go away and you fainted."

 

Hannah tried to stop trembling. "We... we have to look for J-Jinx." She looked at Edward. "I'm sorry... You're hurt."

 

Beatrice blushed with embarassement. "Sorry for the trouble."

 

"We don't know where your horse went," Van Helsing began. He still wanted to ask the girl if she had seen Jinx. That was the reason I called out to her in the first place!

 

Beatrice's eyes widened. "Sorin's...gone?"

 

"I'm fine," Edward insisted, making sure Hannah didn't touch his cheek. "We should get going in case they come back."

 

"It's no trouble, miss," Van Helsing said to the girl. "It's my job. Now, I need to ask you a question: did you see a young girl around here in the last day? She is from the main town. We are looking for her."

 

Beatrice shook her head. "I stay on the farm most of the time; rarely do I come to town. I haven't seen anyone except you and the brides."

 

Hannah kept her hands at her sides. "Perhaps... you and Van Helsing should search during the day. That way... you won't have us to worry about... And I don't want anyone else dead because of me."

 

"How is the bride's coming your fault, Hannah?" Edward asked, eyeing her curiously. "We should stay together anyway."

 

Well, she's a lot of help! he thought, aggrivated. Why keep her around?

"If you were a vampire and just killed man, where woulld you go?" he muttered to himself.

 

"I-" Hannah closed her mouth, shaking her head lightly. "It's complicated."
