Van Helsing

"Once again, I apologize for earlier," Van Helsing sighed. "I know it's a lame excuse but... Lexi's never been taken from me and it's really hard not having her near. And," he added, trying to be nice, "I can get rid of Will for you."

 

"Don't fret; I have a plan." John leaned against a tree.

 

"I shan't ask what," Lestat laughed. "It's more entertaining to watch it play out."

 

Jinx still felt her anger flashing inside her, it felt like a fire rising inside her chest. But the rational part of her heard how hard he was trying to be nice. She looked away from him but sighed. "I'm sorry she was taken from you..." she ran a hand through her hair. "don't worry about Will either. It's nice of you to offer, but he really isn't your problem..."

Will wasn't exactly happy that she was trying to be civil back but it didn't really worry him. He just let another wave of loneliness wash over her.

Carl walked over to the horses and stroked each one, just for something to do.

 

"I see," Van Helsing replied dully. "It's fine, actually; I've decided I won't kill both of them for taking her... my nicer side," he added with a smile.

 

John laughed. "Well I hope you enjoy the show then."

Beatrice went over to Sorin to see him and to get a bit further away from Carl. She touched her forehead to the gelding's nose. "You're doing great." She praised.

 

"Just one of them?" Jinx asked trying to smile too, through gritted teeth. She felt the new wave but accounted it to the fire already burning in her. "Which one?" she added.

that's enough for now, eh dear? i won't overdose you. Will thought, turning and walking away.

Carl watched her praise her horse. He couldn't help but smile thinking she was very kind, and very pretty too. And can't stand how you smell. he reminded himself, looking away.

 

"Always," Lestat sighed. "Edward only wants the same thing you do, you know."

 

"I'm just trying not to get angry over little things," Van Helsing sighed. "Like Lexi... because I'm sure she's fine. Hell, somehow I know she is. And you," he added, trying to not smile. "I still feel awful for yelling earlier."

 

"Good." Jinx said before she could help it. She smacked her forehead. "I'm sorry. That was stupid." she apoligized, angry at herself. "Don't be upset about yelling, I probably need to be yelled at every so often." she tried to smile and mostly failed.

 

Beatrice stroked Sorin's neck, feeling his sweat. "You're really working." She pulled away from him, smiling. "Don't over do yourself, okay? You're getting your partner back so you don't have to work so hard." She moved to his side and ran her fingers through his mane.

"But he won't get it." John said defiantly.

 

Lesat tried not to laugh. "I know," he smiled. "I can keep him away without a problem at all... it's very entertaining how weak he is around me."

 

Van Helsing returned the weak smile, punching her arm playfully. "Don't we all," he laughed.

 

Jinx smiled stronger this time and returned the playful punch, accidently knocking him into a tree. "Oh sorry!" she said, suddenly feeling the fire in her chest seem to lessen little by little. She grabbed his wrist and helped him to stand straight agian. "I forgot..." she said, weakly.

Carl walked around the area, stretching his legs, but kept a careful distance between himself and Beatice, just in case.

 

Beatrice continued to stroke and talk to Sorin, trying to distract herself from Carl's moving scent.

"His kind are supposed to be weak around vampires. We all know what would happen if they weren't." John said.

 

"True," Lestat agreed. "The boy is strong, though. I will give him that."

 

Van Helsing smiled, reluctantly pulling his wrist out of her grasp. "I'd hate to see what you would do to those two if they'd taken a horse of yours."

 

Jinx smiled, feeling the angry fire in her dying down almost completly. She stopped herself from pointing out that she still couldn't understand being so connected with any animal, espically one that was supposed to increase your speed but actully went slower than her. "Scary thought, huh?" she said, instead. "Sorry, again. I just sort of forgot what I could do... I guess I got too relaxed around you for a second." she laughed softly. "That's weird, usually I get less relaxed with you around." she teased him.

Carl remembered that moving was actully a stupid thing to do and stopped, leaning back on a carrige.

 

"In what way? His physical strength is not much compared to others I've seen." John contradicted.

Beatrice smiled, hiding it by wrapping her arms around Sorin's neck and buiring her face in his mane.

 

"I don't mind at all," Van Helsing replied kindly. "Sorry, but... are we headed in the right direction?"
