Van Helsing

"Are you sure?" Lestat asked. "It's a day's ride by horse from here and John will be back."

 

Van Helsing stared at Beatrice. "They..." he began, and then sighed. "You know, Carl," he snapped now, turning to the friar. "This is the exact reason what I should have finished all of you the first time I saw you! This is nothing but trouble now, things leading us away from what I thought our common goal was: Dracula. Don't you see?" He paused, turning to look at each of them. "I am out here for a reason... and it is definitely not deal with and solve all of your problems! You came with me to help me, and now..." he sighed, pulling his hat off his head and running a hand through his hair. "Now no one even cares about the main point of this whole thing. How the hell is Sorin supposed to move that carriage all by himself? Let's... let's just start there."

 

"You don't know what he wants?" Hannah mumbled, closing her eyes again.

"Sorin's pulled things much heavier than a carriage by himself." Beatrice folded her arms. "He's perfectly capable of it."

 

Jinx shoulders started shaking, almost as if she was crying but then she started laughing. "V, Van Helsing, you are a complete jerk." she said, through her laughter. "Don't worry about the carriges. We'll figure something out. Hell, I can help the horse if we really need it, we'll go faster that way anyway."

Carl looked from Van Helsing's angry expression to Jinx laughing and then at Beatice. He shrugged to her.

 

"It's okay...," Angelyn said, just wanting to be alone for a while before she got home and had to explain to her father where she was.

 

"Actually, I've no idea," Edward replied. "What's your theory?"

 

"As you wish, my dear," Lestat said politely, turning toward the trees and bowing. "But do not expect me to watch over you and make sure you get home. I've better things to do, unfortunatly."

 

Van Helsing frowned, swallowing several retorts. "Fine. Hook him up properly, then," he said slowly at Beatrice, so as not to scream at her. "We'll find those two idiots, as you phrased it," he glanced at Jinx, "as we go. Hopefully the sun doesn't conveniently come up before then."

 

"Most vampires only help people to use them later." Hannah said, still mumbling. "Lestat might want you to get rid of a vampire who crossed him or something."

Beatrice knew she'd be just as angry if it had been Sorin that was taken, so she did what Van Helsing told her without bothering to say anything.

 

"You still haven't slept." Jinx said, matter a factly. Somehow alot of her anger had disappeared so she felt almost cheerful I wonder if Will is messing with my emotions again... I hope not... "Why don't you take a rest from sitting up front. Beatice and me can guide the horses."

Carl smiled, "That's a great idea. You do look like your going to fall over, Van Helsing." he was prepared to be yelled at for siding with Jinx, but he didn't really mind.

 

Angelyn was glad that she wouldn't be followed. Of course, she didn't know if the first vampire (John, as this one had told her) would follow her. "Thank you anyway," She said to Lestat and then set off at a brisk walk back to Vatican City.

 

"I don't know," Edward sighed. "But we'll find out. With my luck he's probably listening right now."

 

Lesat faded back toward John and Will, trying his best not to let his hunger bother him enough to go and end Angelyn's suffering.

She will find her way back, Lestat muttered to himself. And it's not my fault if he catches her again.

 

"I'm fine, thanks," Van Helsing snapped, getting on top of his carriage again. "We should move again before the sun comes up."

 

Jinx shook her head. "Do you honestly think we'll get there any faster if you fall off and break your neck?" she asked, not moving. "I'll bet you can't even see straight." she added.

Carl sighed and gave Beatice a quick smile before getting back into the carrige himself, leaving the two to argue it out.

 

"Let him listen," Hannah muttered. "He won't hear anything pleasent from me."

Beatrice tried to ignore the two as she finished Sorin's harness and moved to his bridle.

 

"Hush, dear," Edward smiled. "Do you want to be with me or John? Lestat can help."

 

"Jinx, if you're not going to help," Van Helsing sighed, grabbing Sorin's reigns. "You can leave."

 

Jinx felt a pang of hurt from his words but didn't let him see. "I am trying to help, but you're being a stuborn jerk." she retorted, looking away from him. "But fine, fall off the carrige and get trampled by the horses. Obviously you don't give a damn, why should I?" She walked over to the carrige Beatice was riding on and jumped up.

Carl tapped his fingers on the seat. both of them are so stuborn....

 

"Then he's joined our little time table." Hannah sighed bitterly. "I want to be with you, Edward, but I cause so much trouble."

Beatrice adjusted Sorin's bridle, though it didn't need to be. That was harsh.
