Van Helsing

John threw Jinx to the side. "You've spoiled everything!" He raged. "I should tell Will to try killing you again!"

"Stop it!" Beatrice yelled at John.

John cast Beatrice a side glance. Knowing better than to pick a fight with a newborn, he bowed his head slightly and then left.

"Sorry...." Hannah apologized, her voice still low.

 

Angelyn blinked her eyes open, her head swimming. When she realized where she was, she squirmed.

 

"You've no need at all to apologize, love," Edward replied kindly. "It's not your fault. You weren't the only one controlling yourself back there, you know."

 

Jinx jumped to her feet, her eyes flashing almost black. She was shaking as she walked back to the carriges with Beatice. How does he know Will?

"Um... No, I'm sorry, I dont know enough to give you the propor information." Carl tried, though he was having a hard time rmember why he shouldn't tell Will any information.

Will breathed out, annoyed and was about to ask again when he smelt Jinx and Beatice. "Aw well, good day to you." he left quickly.

 

Lestat stopped and put Angelyn down gently. He sighed, trying to give her a smile.

"Don't worry, petite fille," he soothed. "I'm taking you away from those that want to kill you. It was very unwise to show up on your own."

 

Hannah just sighed, opening her eyes and staring the ground.

"Are you okay?" Beatrice asked Jinx.

 

Angelyn trembled. She never imaged she'd get into so much trouble as this. "I- I didn't mean for any of this to happen...."

 

"Not really." Jinx answered, honestly, as they walked back to the carriges. She noticed Carl standing in the middle, gripping his gun tightly. "Carl, are you okay?" she asked.

"huh?" Carl turned to face them. "Oh, um yeah... I was just talking to Will..."

"What?!" Jinx demanded, her expression angry still

Carl flinched, "He wanted information. I didn't tell him anything!"

"Oh...." Jinx tired to calm down her voice. "I'm... sorry I yelled..." she apologized looking down.

 

"Do you know if there's any town or village close by where we could stop at dawn?" Edward asked. "Otherwise we'd have to find a dark place in the trees for you to stay till the others catch up."

 

"Of course not, dear," Lestat murmured. "Do not worry. It would be best if you just went back to Rome as fast as you can. Where is your horse?"

 

"I don't know." Hannah answered. She didn't want to be near people at this point.

"Hannah and Edward are still gone...," Beatrice noticed. "Where do you think they went?" She asked, trying to change the subject.

 

"She must have run off," Angelyn sighed.

 

"I see," Edward said softly. "Well, we'll just keep going till we have to stop. Is... is that alright with you?"

 

Jinx sighed. "Somewhere in that direction. I don't think they would make it too hard for us to find them, but probably far enough away that they are sort of safe." she guessed.

Carl nodded. "How about Van Helsing? He hasn't come back either..." he pointed out.

Jinx bit her lip, "I don't know... that stuff you gave him makes him impossible to find by sent."

 

Van Helsing stepped out of the trees and smiled. His grin dropped when he saw that they were two people short.

"Where are they?" he asked. "Did John finally kill Edward and take Hannah away?"

 

"Well, then," Lestat sighed. "What would you like to do? Look for her? Walk on your own... I don't suggest that... or I can take you myself. It's up to you."

 

"No, Edward took off like an idoit on a horse... but Beatice and me stopped John before he could catch up with them..." Jinx explained, dryly. "We'll have to meet up with them later."

Carl nodded. "Yeah, I think they're safe. for now it'll just be a lighter load for the horses."

 

"It's fine." Hannah answered. "Edward... How come Lestat hasn't just told you what you want yet?"

"They kinda took Lexi..." Beatrice told Van Helsing gently; she knew he'd be upset about it.

 

"I'll walk." Angelyn said quickly. "I know the way."

 

"Lestat is not an easy man to deal with," Edward tried to explain. "He has to get something out of it, you know? He's not a bad person... he's just had a bad life full of decisions he didn't get to make, and therefore now... well, he's trying to be kind despite the way he's acted his entire life. He'll tell me what I want when he gets what he wants... whatever that may be."
