Van Helsing

"I don't know what to do," Van Helsing muttered.

 

"I don't know," Edward mused. "But Lestat will be out there, and I have a feeling he might answer questions for me."

 

"Can you handle it?" Jinx asked, seriously.

"Finding you." Will answered, keeping most of the truth to himself, "Where have you been for all this time?"

"well, you have a choice. You can do what you would usually do, shoot them all and be done with it. Or you can do what you're doing now, and just be a friend. That means protecting and all that."

 

Beatrice shut her eyes and shook her head.

"We can find out on our own." Hannah said.

"Around." John answered. "I don't stay in one place for too long. But I happened to run into this young lady," He guestured to Angleyn. "And figured I could help her find her way."

 

"Thank you, Carl," Van Helsing sighed. "I know. I'm not much of a protector, though. That seems to be Edward's department."

 

Edward frowned. "What are you saying?" he asked.

 

Lestat smiled. You must have the smallest, most tolerant stomach in the world, John he laughed to himself. Letting that girl live...

 

Jinx put a hand on Beatice's shoulder. "Want me to ask him to go back inside or do you need to eat?" she asked.

Carl shrugged, "I don't know what to tell you Van Helsing." he laughed lightly, "I would, but as you say, you're not who you were."

Will nodded. "I see, such a lovely lady." he bowed slightly to Angelyn. "Again, I am sorry to intrude."

 

"I just don't trust him, Edward." Hannah replied.

"Oh, she's not for me." John laughed. "She and Hannah have a connection, you see. Hannah was right though, she does smell exquisite."

"I don't know...." Beatrice murmured.

 

Angelyn trembled. Are they... vampires...?!

 

"And who might Hannah be?" Will asked. He saw Angelyn starting to look freaked out and sent a easy wave of contentment wash over her.

 

"True," Van Helsing agreed. "Let's just focus on Dracula."

 

"I know, dear," Edward sighed. "We don't have much of a choice. For now... I think we just have to wait."

 

Ah, I see, Lestat thought to himself. He's a bit smarter than I thought.

 

Carl smiled, "Sure thing, the other vampires have to wait to get killed, right? Dracula was here first." he laughed.

Jinx looked at Beatice nervously and then took the regeins. "Carl, could you do me a favor?" she called up to him. "Could you please go back into the carrige. Sorry but your making Beatice crazy."

Carl looked around at them, "Huh? Oh sure." He climbed down quickly back into the carrige. "See you when we stop I guess." he said to Van helsing before shutting the door.

 

"Waiting is good." Hannah sighed, leaning against Edward.

"Hannah is one of mine." John said. "She got herself into a bit of trouble in Vatican City. I'm sure this girl will be able to relieve a bit of Hannah's stress."

Beatrice rubbed her temples. "Sorry...."

 

Angelyn suddenly felt calm, despite the subject being talked of.

 

Will nodded, as if interested. "I see. So you've taken to making them as well?"

"It's okay Beatice, it isn't your fault." Jinx kept hold of the reigns while Beatice got herself together again.

 

"Bye," Van Helsing said, not looking at Jinx before he turned back around.

 

"Definitely," Edward laughed. "I was going to tell you to sleep while we travel, but I guess rest is the proper word."
