Van Helsing

"What did he say?" Edward asked. "He and Lestat want you back, don't they?"

 

Hannah shook her head. "He has a present for me. It's a surprise." She muttered the last bit, resting against Edward. "I don't think I'll enjoy it."

 

Edward grimaced. "That's a little daunting," he spoke. "Don't worry... I will speak to Lestat once we finish this journey, I'll do whatever he wants, and then next time I rip John to shreds he will not be getting up."

"Don't say that." Hannah said. "He might ask you to do something you don't want to." She cuddled closer to Edward. "Who knows, maybe John might be giving up after all." She tried to smile, but she could tell from John's tone that it was nothing of the sort.

Jinx watched the forest move past them, trying to remember why she had been so worried.

Will's smile became wicked as he saw Jinx fall into thought. Good, now let's meet you again. He sped up untill he was past the carrige far enough so they couldn't see him and wouldn't for a few minutes. Then he stepped out onto the road and waited.

 

Edward smiled, tightening his arms around her. "I'll do anything I can," he whispered. "And, of course, you'll have a say in it, no matter what it entails."

 

"Jinx..." Van Helsing began, turning his head slightly to look back at the carriage. "Can you see who's out there? There's... someone in the road..."

 

In the road? Lestat questioned, drifting behind Jinx's carriage. I didn't think John was that stupid...

 

Jinx snapped out of her thoughts and stood up to look for what Van Helsing was talking about. When she saw who it was, she shrieked and feel back into her seat.

Will smiled, at her yell but then forced his expression into shock. Time to work.

 

Beatrice quickly changed the reigns to one hand, placing her other on Jinx's shoulder. "What is it?"

Hannah stiffened at Jinx's scream. "Edward... We are really close to another vampire...."

 

"I'm going to stop," Van Helsing said back to Jinx, Beatrice, and Carl, and then looked down to see Edward. "Keep that gun out, please."

 

Jinx forced herself to fight the happyness that had washed over her at seeing Will. I am nothappy! she forced herself to think. "William, he's in the road... don't stop please. " she said, a little too late.

Carl looked up so sharply at the scream he hit his head on the top of the carrige. "Ouch! Van Helsing, what happened?" he called up.

Will started running to the side of the carrige as they slowed down. "Jinx?"

 

"Shh, then," Edward said softly, and moved slightly so he could open the curtains of the carriage window and stick his head outside. They were already slowing down, but he could not make out the details of the figure.

"It's not Lestat," Edward confirmed, knowing the man's out-of-date clothing well. "And I don't... no, it isn't John either." He sighed. "Just what we need: another one."

 

Well, this must be my friend's master, Lestat mused, almost laughing at the new vampire. He seems very inexperienced...

 

"Jinx knows him!" Edward hissed as the carriage came to a stop. "What should we do? He doesn't seem safe."

 

"Heads up, Beatrice," Van Helsing called,and yanked hard on Sorin's and Lexi's reigns, getting them to stop quickly. Beatrice had to stop fast behind him.

"Can we help you, sir?" he began, turning in his seat, one hand behind his back where his bow rested.

 

Will ignored him, keeping his eyes on Jinx. "Jinx." he repeated, "How are you here?"

"How am I here, how are you here?" Jinx tried to snap at him, but she couldn't feel angry. "Will..." she warned a little.

But he'd already grabbed her wrist and pulled her off the carrige into his arms. "Jinx I can't belive I found you." he muttered into her hair before taking her face in his hands and kissing her.

Jinx's eyes got huge but she couldn't feel anything other than the emotions he was pressing on her. She only had a nagging thought at the back of her mind that said she should punch his lights out, and she ignored it.

Carl opened the door to the carrige once it stopped and looked out. "Oh..."

 

"It's hard to tell if she likes that or not..." Hannah muttered, looking out with Edward. "My bet is she doesn't."

Beatrice's eyes widened. Who does he think he is?

 

"Van Helsing is going to kill him. Come on," Edward said, grabbing Hannah's hand, the gun in the other, and stepped out of the carriage.

 

Van Helsing pulled out his bow now, pulling the round of arrows into place.

"Sir," he began again. "We need to be on our way, so if you wouldn't mind..."
