"Why? Am I dazzling you?" Hannah's smile grew.

BIC: "Well, in a way, yes," Edward laughed. "But what I mean is... you can use that phrase as much as you'd like; it makes me very happy, but... I can't really say anything back right now, and I don't want you to kill me for that."

BIC: "Don't worry, I won't." Hannah said. "I'm just happy to be with you."

 

"Really?" Edward asked. "That's a good thing. Do you think Van Helsing has been listening to us or what?"

 

"Probably." Hannah rolled her eyes. "But it's hard to tell with him. He's so unpredictable."

 

Jinx shook her head. She had a feeling she shouldn't feel so good. But she did feel good... she faked a laugh for Beatice, "sorry, I must have zoned out when I said that." she made up quickly.

Will continued to follow the carriges, he could smell John near by. At least this should be easy enough. They aren't going anywhere too different. he grinned to himself at Jinx's words, Lie sweet heart, who cares right? You're happy anway... another wave of peace of mind swept over Jinx and a real smile passed over her. So happy now, and soon, so happy to see me.

 

"Maybe Jinx can calm him, yes?" Edward laughed, hoping the man was listening now.

 

Lestat walked casually through the forest, humming the Bach piano tune in his head. He followed the scent of the girl, the fear and loneliness thick enough in the air almost for him to touch. His fingers drifted in the air once more, playing soundless notes and chords...

And then he saw her, walking on her own, clothed in a plain, light black dress. The wind blew her long, straight, dark red hair out of its pins, spinning around her pale shoulders.

"Bonsoir, ma belle dame!" Lestat crooned softly, his voice low, seductive, and sweet, sweeping into a large, gentlemanly bow as he materialized out of the shadows a few yards from her.

 

"Oh!" Emily turned around in surprise. She had been standing, pretty much terrified, since Will had run off without her. "H, hello..." she looked the handsome man up and down. Normally she would love to see someone like this talking to her, but for one thing she was in love with Will, And I am not a ****! she thought quickly. And for another thing, this man had found her all alone in the forest. And I'm not stupid... Oh William come back! she was shaking from fear. "Who are you?"

 

Angelyn rode as quietly as she could a safe distance from the carriages. Now that her brother was dead, she had one goal in mind: revenge on who killed him. She was scared of Hannah, knowing that she traveled with the man who killed her brother and that she was precious to that man, but she road despite that fear.

 

"I'm sure she could." Hannah raised her voice enough for Van Helsing to hear.

John smiled, smelling the rank stench of fear. My my, who would ride alone at this time?

 

"Ah, my dear, I'm glad you asked," Lestat smiled, keeping his distance. "I am Lestat de Lioncourt, and I am a traveling pianist on my way to a Transylvanian town for a concert. Forgive me entruding your privacy, but where is your escort? A lovely lady should not be left alone in the woods on a dark night."

 

Tears fell down her cheeks and the was glad for the darkness, assuming he couldn't see th tears, "He said he'd be right back." she explained shakily. "I hope we can come see your concert..." she offered the comment as a last minute thing. The man scared her for all his words, he had the same qualities as Will in some odd ways, but she didn't feel the normal calm and happyness that came with seeing Will. "um, have a nice evening?" she said after a short silence, wishing he would leave and Will would come back.

 

"Oh, don't go, mon cherie," Lestat whispered, and, in a tenth of a second, he as at her side, his hands gently on her shoulders. He wiped a tear off the side of her cheek with the lace tucked around his sleeve.

 

Emily gasped. "you, you move just like him..." she whispered low enough that she thought he wouldn't hear. Turning alittle to look at him she swallowed at seeing him so close. "Eh, Mr. Lestat, will you help me find my escort?" she asked, tenitivly. "It's getting really late.... and he's been gone too long." she felt more tears run down her cheeks and she brushed them away hurridly.

 

"Let's not tease him, dear," Edward smiled, and then it faded. "Wait..." he began, clutching the side of his head. He cried out suddenly, putting his head between his knees once more.

 

Lestat tightened his grip on Emily's arms, the smell of her fear mixing with her blood and bringing his senses to a height that made his mouth water. "Oh, my dear," he murmured, his eyes glazed over black, "You should just stay with me. I'm much... much more entertainning."

 

Angelyn pulled her horse to a stop as a man stepped out from the side of the rode. What is he doing out here all alone at night?

 

"What is it?" Hannah asked quickly, placing her hands on his shoulder and back.

John smiled at the thought. "Excuse me miss, but could you help me find my way back to the city?"

 

"It's just straight down this road, sir." Angelyn answered, a bit nervous now. "I cannot go back with you though."
