Van Helsing

I have made my immortal life what I have perceived as the greatest adventure of all time, with no consequence of heaven or hell ever existing... just lust, power, and my own happiness have existed for hundreds of years. Yet now, the times are turning... my century is disappearing, and I have all these powers, all this knowledge and strength no one else possesses. I must share it, it's only fair... plus, he added, darkening his tone so it was stabbing to any who heard it, I like it. All of it, if you know what I mean... He chuckled again, taking out a handkerchief to polish the mud from his black boots.

 

John winced slightly. "It has been a pleasure for me too. Hannah has proven to be the most fun."

Hannah smiled at Edward's warmth. "Then wait until Carl and Van Helsing are asleep."

 

Carl sighed. "Just ask if you need anything, Beatice." he said, before walking a bit away to rest and give them some human free air.

Jinx laughed queitly to herself as began to see what Van Helsing was referring to. "Well, anyway. Maybe you'd like to go for a walk or something?" she suggested to Beatice.

 

"Not curious enough to pester and ask about it right now?" Edward teased, pinching her arm. "I do have a question now that I'd love you to answer, but only if you want to."

 

Lestat sighed, swallowing a smile. You know very little, John, he replied kindly. Do not torture her too much tonight; I can convince him to let her go, but if she comes back damaged, I cannot... no, I will not stop him.

 

John laughed. "I'm not going to hurt her physically."

Hannah's smile faded. "It's not 'how many people did you eat', is it?"

Beatrice nodded. "Yeah okay."

 

"No," Edward smiled grimly, and kissed her cheek to make her smile again. "Now, don't get sad or defensive... it's about John."

 

Lovely, Lestat crooned. I'll be watching. Oh, he added, the venom and twist coming back to his tone, I had an interesting breakfast this morning... you'll see what I mean next time you see Hannah... or her group for yourself...

 

"Good. It'll give you a chance to stretch your limbs, but..." Jinx smiled at her, "Don't break into a sprint unless you don't mind traveling a bit faster than your used to, okay?" she advised, although 'a bit faster' didn't quite cover how fast any vampire could move, much less a newborn.


Carl sat down next to Van Helsing, resting his back on the wheel of a carrige. "You have a really big mouth, you know that?" he muttered.

 

Beatrice remembered how fast she'd seen Hannah move. "Oh... Okay."

"Alright." Hannah agreed, though she couldn't smile thinking about John.

"I look forward to it." John answered. "Do they have one less member now?" He smirked.

 

"Yes," Van Helsing confirmed. "I apologize."

 

"Who made him?" Edward asked. "That's all I want to know now."

 

Human? No, Lestat answered shortly, his fingers drifting across the air in front of him as if a piano stood there in his way. He could almost hear the notes in his head...

 

"I see." John chuckled. "Well, I've business attending to."

"I don't know." Hannah admitted.

"Would you like to?" John asked Hannah. "I'm sure it's a story you'll love."

Hannah cried out, her hands flying to her head. "Speak of the devil..."

"Oh, I'm not that good yet." John smirked at the compliment.

 

Enjoy yourself while you can, Lestat smirked, hearing John's connection with Hannah, the words reminding him of Louis.

 

Get out!Edward thought harshly, his anger flaring again. He wrapped his arms around Hannah, pulling her close as if it would stop John from entering her mind. Haven't we had this discussion already?

 

"I don't recall." John said to Edward. "Hannah, I'd love you to join me tonight. Our talk was interrupted yesterday."

John's words felt like a burn to Hannah. "Stop it, John..."

"If you meet me, you wouldn't have to deal with this pain." John reminded her.

Hannah cringed closer to Edward. "I should...."

"Good Hannah." John crooned. "One hour. I'll find you if you don't find me by then."

Hannah groaned from the pain. "Okay...." She said aloud.

 

GET OUT! Edward shouted, slashing pain across his voice. Now!

 

"I'll see you in one hour Hannah." John left.

Hannah's hands dropped from her head. "I shouldn't have gotten used to him not being here...." She let herself go limp against Edward. "You shouldn't aggravate him like that...."

 

"I can't help it," Edward sighed, pulling her head down against his chest, holding her still. "You'll go, won't you?" he whispered into her hair. "Without me."
