"I'm not about to barge into the Valerious castle," John began heatedly. "Just to get her angry again. I'm sure you could, but I can't stand up against a lycan, werewolf, and hunter at once."

"For me... right now... Yes. It's a bad thing to say. I'm afraid that if I start... I won't be able to stop." Hannah answered, staring unseeingly at the bed sheets.

"It's still scary," Beatrice said softly.

 

"I understand," Edward replied. "But I think all you girls need to believe in the fact that you have some self control; you don't give yourself much credit at all, no faith in your own judgement. You're all better people than to let your instincts rule you, no matter how strong they may be. It's hard to believe now, when it's said aloud, but you have to trust me. I have faith in all three of you."

 

"Oh, it can't be that hard," Lestat chuckled. "But tonight... things will change, trust me."

 

Jinx nodded, "Yeah, it's something we're not sure about. But don't worry, alright Bee? Nothing bad is going to happen to any of us. It's just another part of our journey." she smiled assuringly.

 

"They will," John agreed. "In what way is the question."

"Edward," Hannah started. "You saw me when I got angry... I don't know what will happen if I let myself give in any more than I already have... I'm frightened, Edward... I'm frightened of myself. I'm worried I'll do something I'll regret."

Beatrice tried to smile back but didn't do a very good job. "Okay... Yeah, okay. I won't worry anymore."

 

Jinx laughed softly and patted Beatric'es shoulder. "You're being really brave in all this." she looked up at the castle, "Do you want to go inside?"

"I know," Edward sighed. "But after tonight you won't have to worry about these stupid lycan problems anymore, alright? That's going to be something in your past, something that you don't have to be afraid of anymore."

 

"Ah," Lestat murmured, grinning and catching John's eye. "It sounds as if someone has their own agenda for the evening hours. Am I right?"

 

"Your job is very demanding of you," Michael observed plainly. He thought for a moment. "What if it wasn't someone innocent that she killed?"

Hannah looked out the window, a bit upset by the rising sun. "What are we supposed to do today?" She asked, trying to change the subject.

"I guess that's best," Beatrice answered.

"You always are," John responded.

 

"Okay. Let's go." Jinx smiled lightly. "I hope Ms. Anna is around so she can meet you. I think it's better if we all know everyone before we jump through that mirror thing."

 

Van Helsing narrowed his eyes. "Then I might pause for a second before I shot," he answered a little icily.

 

"Figure out what Anna can offer to our group," Edward replied. "That's what I'd like to accomplish."

 

"Oh, I know!" Lestat cackled, shaking back his blonde hair and grinning widely. "May I ask what your ideas are for the moonlit hours?"

 

"You'll find out," John began warily. "Just like everyone else."

Hannah was quiet for a moment. "I'll sit that one out. I don't like being around her."

"I see," Michael said slowly. "And what if it were Jinx and not Beatrice?"

Beatrice smiled. "That sounds good."

 

Van Helsing tightened his hands into fists, resisting the urge to let his fingers touch his guns. "Shall we go inside now?" he hissed under his breath, his tone dangerous and icy.

 

"You should be there," Edward insisted kindly. "Even if you don't speak, it's also up to you what happens in the group if we make a decision about her."

 

"It won't matter what your plans are by the end of the night," Lestat muttered under his breath. "Sounds wonderful," he continued a little louder. "I will be there... in the meantime, I think I'm still hungry... despite just finding some interesting people in that town." He laughed to himself. "I need some... sport."

 

"Go then," John said.

"Alright," Hannah sighed. "But don't expect me to put a smile on for her."

Michael raised his hands. "I was just asking."
