Van Helsing (Cont.)

Michael put his hands on Beatrice's arms, holding her still. "Beatrice, think." He whispered to her.

 

Van Helsing sighed and nodded his head toward Anna. "Ladies," he said a little more loudly than before. "This is Anna Valerias. She's... agreed to work with us, I think, and help get rid of Dracula."

 

"Hush," Edward muttered, choking back a laugh. "Try to be polite."

 

Oh, I agree, Lestat responded politely. You have the advantage in... certain situations...

BIC: What's that supposed to mean? John snapped.

"I'm just making an observation," Hannah murmured and then looked over at Beatrice, her smile fading. She didn't eat anything...

"Let me go," Beatrice pulled against Michael's hold.

Anna looked around, her eyes resting on Beatrice. Her hand slid to the hilt of her sword.

 

Michael held Beatrice against his chest, wrapping his arms around her. "Not until you're thinking straight." He said calmly, keeping his voice low.

 

"Um," Van Helsing began slowly, looking between Beatrice and Anna. "Should we all go inside now, and just... settle down?"

 

Edward smiled, but his eyes were on Beatrice and Michael as well. "Yes," he agreed to Van Helsing. "It's not safe out here at night, as I'm sure Miss Valerias would say."

 

Just merely referring to my own... skills in ceratin situations, Lestat laughed through his response.

 

Alright then... John shook his head.

"Van Helsing, I don't think that's the best idea right now..." Hannah said.

"And why is that?" Anna asked, her fingers curling around the hilt of her sword.

 

"I can stay here with Beatrice," Michael offered. "It's not a problem for me."

 

"Fine," Van Helsing agreed, nodding at Michael. "If Beatrice needs to calm down, the rest of us can go inside if you see fit, Miss Hannah," he concluded, adding unnecessary emphasis to the last two words.

 

Is she okay? Edward asked sideways at Michael, gently pushing a strand of Hannah's hair out of his face as the wind picked up.

 

Oh, I am sorry, Lestat began a little more seriously. Did I offend you?

 

I'm not sure, Michael answered, not bothered by Beatrice's pulling. She hasn't eaten since I've been here; two days. I think being this close to Anna and Carl is a bit too much for her.

 

Hannah frowned at Van Helsing. "I'm fine." She looked back at Anna, trying to shut out the loud sound of her heart. She needs to relax. It may not bother me, but it does bother Beatrice.

As I said before, your ego could encirlce the globe, John murmured.

Anna looked at Hannah and then Van Helsing. Tension or jokes? She wondered. I would be surprised if it was the latter.

 

"Then let's go," Van Helsing insisted, stepping over to Jinx. He was about to put a hand on her shoulder, but then glanced at Anna and thought better of it.

 

Edward tightened his grip around Hannah, looking from Van Helsing to Anna, not sure who would move to start back toward the castle.

 

Once again, I am very proud of it, Lestat chuckled. John, let me tell you something; being the devil himself is not easy. My... ego, as you call it, could be the least of your problems.

 

Van Helsing sighed and stepped forward, grabbing Jinx's wrist and pulling her with him when no one moved, striding toward the castle.

"They all seem idiots sometimes," he muttered to her.
