"Yes," Michael answered. "Power is what he likes, and Dracula is supposedly the most powerful vampire here."

 

Hannah leaned against the carriage, her legs shaking. "Thanks, Edward," She said quietly. "I only went because Bee said that Lestat told her he wouldn't let anything happen...."

"I do not need you," Anna retorted. "I've been doing fine before you and your entourage came. My brother and I can handle Dracula without your help."

Carl looked back at the mirror, recalling what he learned of the Valarious family.

Beatrice nodded. "Supposedly..."

 

"How?" Van Helsing demanded, raising his voice slightly and gripping her wrist tighter. "How the hell can you 'handle it' when you have no clue how to kill the b.astard?"

 

"You know someone stronger?" Michael asked.

 

Edward growled angrily, digging his claws into the wet ground. Lestat said he would protect you and then did nothing?

 

"I'll figure it out! My brother was killed by one of Dracula's werewolves, and his death will not be in vain." Anna tried pulling her wrist back.

"I think so," Beatrice smiled.

Hannah put a hand to her head. "I don't know his exact words, only what Bee told me."

 

"Dead?" Van Helsing repeated, lowering his voice. "So... you're the only one left?"

 

Edward tried to relax, wanting to stand and speak to Hannah normally. I'll speak with him later, he said, his voice still soft. Dammit, I can't focus... I need to change, but I can't... I'm too upset...

 

"Who?" Michael questioned.

 

"Yes," Anna answered. "But I will see him again. We Transylvanians always look on the brighter side of death."

"There's a brighter side of death?" Carl asked, turning back to look at Anna and Van Helsing.

Hannah sunk to her knees, her back against the carriage wheel. "Well there isn't anything relaxing about this situation."

"I'll let you think about it," Beatrice answered, still smiling.

 

"Will you at least agree to meet them?" Van Helsing implored.

 

We need to go inside, Edward began quietly. I don't feel safe out here.

 

"Okay," Michael agreed reluctantly as he came out of the trees. "Much trouble?" He asked Edward aloud, setting Beatrice on her feet by Hannah.

 

Hannah nodded to Edward and then glared up at Michael.

Beatrice knelt next to Hannah. "Are you okay?"

"You're going to drive me insane with that question, Bee," Hannah grumbled.

Anna nodded slowly. "If I find one hint of a lie from them-"

"You'll give them a second chance." Carl interrupted.

 

"Whether you like it or not," Van Helsing muttered, stepping away from Anna now.

 

Can't change, Edward growled at Michael. And I want to get inside, but I doubt that Anna lady will like us anymore if I come in like this. Is Bee okay?

"I don't know if I agree to that," Anna glowered at the two.

"I'm fine," Beatrice murmured.

 

"Then we'll just stay here." Michael said.

 

"You don't have much of a choice, miss," Van Helsing retorted. "They'll be here soon."
