"Doesn't show much intelligence on her part, though," Van Helsing said. "I mean, having such a dangerous mission in her life, I think she'd have more protection."

 

"Okay," Edward said slowly. "I don't know what 'stopping you' entains, but I'm sure it includes stopping you from getting angry, or distracting you from that emotion... I think I can manage that."

 

"It doesn't nessasarily show stupidity. She might just be very independent or stubborn... it's hard to rely on people if you're like that." Jinx pointed out.

 

Hannah shook her head slowly. "Not me," She hesitated. "The fire."

"Oh, I know," Van Helsing sighed. "Trust me... but I have Carl, have for a long time... and look where that's got me."

 

"I don't understand," Edward began, unsure. "What do you mean?"

 

"And just think where you'd be without him!" Jinx smiled. "Probably even more in over your head than you are already."

 

"Maybe dead," Van Helsing thought aloud. "If that's possible."

 

"I sure hope not..." Jinx muttered, not liking the idea. "I'm glad you guys do have each other to rely on. Somehow I don't think either of you would be the same otherwise."

 

Van Helsing nodded. "Wow!" he exclaimed suddenly, motioning his head forward. "Now that's a castle!"

 

Jinx looked up at the building towering over them. "Woah... How are you supposed to know your way around a place that big?" she laughed. "This is going to be interesting. Now I really can't wait to meet her." her eyes roamed the area around the castle as she searched for Anna.

 

"It's hard to explain...," Hannah said. "I did it once when John made me angry... but I haven't tried to do it since... I burnt half of that house down. I think he's still mad about it." She looked at her hands. "I'll show you later."

 

"Okay," Edward said uneasily. "I'm just worried for you, you know."

"Me either," Van Helsing muttered, slowly down the pace of the carriage as they pulled closer to the enormous castle, admiring how old and strong the stone fortress seemed to be despite the look of fragile age. He knew that the marble, sandstone, cement, and brick that composed the huge structure would last for many centuries despite what the Transylvanian weather tossed at it.

The castle was more storm-worn on the northern side, facing the mountains and the direction that the snow came from. He eyed each of the windows he could see carefully, trying to catch any sign of light, guessing that if there was more than one lit pane, there would be more than one person inside.

Nothing reflected any light; all the dull, faded red, velvet curtains he could see were coated in dust, the afternoon light destroying them even further. Van Helsing tilted his head up higher, smiling when he saw that the tops of the tallest spires of the castle were caught in the clouds that hung low over the land, making the afternoon sun seem almost night. The light passed through the rain-heavy stratosphere in an almost unearthly way, the yellow dashes contorted to an ugly, demented grey-silver that made the castle's stone faces seeming alive, coated in moss, weedy growth, and dust.

"Lovely, isn't it?" Van Helsing said, finally letting go of Jinx's hand to pull Lexi and Sorin to a stop near the front gates. His tone was almost serious.

 

OOC: haha! ur avvy is very awesome. and that's one epic description of the castle btw. ^^

BIC: "Yeah, in it's own way." Jinx nodded, taking in the building and also scanning the window's for movement or light. "Looks like no one's home though... that's annoying." she jumped down from her seat as they came to a stop. "We're here you guys." she knocked on the door for Hannah and Edward.

Carl got out of the carrige as they came to a halt. He started at the sight of the castle. "Wow, I never thought it would be that big from what I read." he smiled at Beatrice and helped her down.

 

"Thanks," Beatrice quickly took her hand away from Carl, acutally aware of the pulse of blood beneath his skin. She shoved her hands in her pockets.

"Yeah," Hannah tried to smile. "I know..."

 

Michael dismounted the stallion. "It is impressive." He commented. "You okay, Beatrice?"

 

"Should we just go up, I guess?" Van Helsing asked.

 

"Well, shall we?" Edward asked, reaching to open the carriage door.

 

Impressive, Lestat thought, smiling up at the castle himself. I wonder what the inside looks like...
