Van Helsing (Cont.)

"Not everything can be fixed, Edward," Hannah whispered back. "I'm just going to have to learn to live with this.... Without... without having another... Henry situation...." She bit her lip, holding back her emotions for her lost friend.

 

"Hey," Edward sighed, tightening his grip on her hand. "Don't you trust me? Don't you have any faith in my that I can help?"

 

"I know you can help," Hannah finally brought herself to look at Edward. "But how can you change what I am?"

 

Lestat found himself flinching as he walked, recalling his story. I did it... he thought, clenching his jaw, bile rising in his mouth as he remembered the actions. I had no idea how I did what I did; her blood gave me powers I did not understand. I looked at a man, saw the fear, confusion, and innocence in his face-- and, before I realized what I did, he was screaming. Blood burst his eyes to bits in his head, red gushing in gagging bursts from his ears. I could hear his skull cracking, his fingernails ripping the skin from his own neck, almost as if he were trying to put himself out of his misery... I did it to another, and another, following her lead, hypnotized by my foolish, useless love to do as she said... I believed her opinions out of trust... and she betrayed me.

I was taught like the ancient vampires, the old ones that still use the term "Dark Gift," that generation between the ugly, unciviled clans that believed they were brought here by the devil and the scum of today that are arrogant, ignorant fools, not understanding or knowing about the power which they so undeservedly came from. We believe in only killing "evil-doers," no innocents. Akasha broke that rule for me... I never hurt anyone that wasn't "evil" in a way!

My soul died that day in that sick temple, all my love and my devotion to whatever bit of mortal-sense was left in me... I've lost everything I ever cared about...

 

"I don't intend to change you, love," Edward sighed. "I just want to get rid of this lycan business, something you don't deserve. I'm not saying you deserve what... what you are. Neither of us do, but we cannot change it. I don't care if you have to kill people to live, Hannah; it doesn't bother me, doesn't make me afraid or sad... I love you anyway."

 

"Did you see what I did... when I let my anger get the best of me?" Hannah slammed her free fist on lap and then hung her head. "I was a monster, Edward. More than I was as just a vampire. So if you can do something that will make me less of a monster, I'm all for it."

BIC: "No kidding. It's like the road never ends." Jinx held onto fingers back. "If we don't get there soon I might just get off and help the horses go faster." she laughed

"Oh, now you just want to get away from me," Van Helsing teased.

 

"Hmm," Edward chuckled. "There are plenty of things I could to make you feel more... human."

 

Hannah's eyes widened. "I... well I don't think that... We are in a group... There... there are other things that we..." She laughed nervously, turning her head away.

BIC: Jinx shook her head, smiling. "If I wanted to get away from you, I could just push you off your seat. I can direct horses along a straight road well enough." she teased in return.

 

"Shaking, are we?" Edward smiled, wrapping his arm around her waist. "I haven't even done anything yet."

 

"Oh, you're so sweet!" Van Helsing sighed dramatically. "Thank you so much for that."

 

"Oh please, you must love the abuse, other wise you would never stay around me for very long, right?" Jinx laughed, "So, you're welcome."

 

Hannah laughed again. "I was just... thinking."

 

"About what?" Edward asked, trailing his fingers through her hair. "Anything you wish to vocalize? Or should I just... look for myself?"

 

"So true," Van Helsing smiled, and then looked back at Beatrice. "Hey!" he shouted. "Ask Carl how much longer it's going to be! My... feet are falling asleep here!"
