Michael got on the stallion.

 

John turned sharply to look at Lestat. "Are you trying to get Hannah to yourself? Is that what you want? You'll have to kill me to get to her."

"Never better," Hannah murmured.

Beatrice got atop her carriage and waited for Carl to get in.

 

"So..." Van Helsing sighed, looking down at Jinx for a moment as they started foward. "That was fun, yes?"

 

Edward shook his head, not convinced. "Do you want to talk?"

 

"Oh, I'm not interested in her," Lestat chuckled, waving a hand. "She's not mine, she's yours. I'm not that partial to women, after... after Akasha, nothing will work. Instead, I'd rather apologize to you again for my... charming, impulsive curse."

 

Hannah forced her eyes open. "Now?"

John was silent, thinking over things. "So you want me to let it all go?"

 

Jinx rolled her eyes. "you tell me. I wish I could have been there to see Edward shoot John. For all he's done to her..." she shook her head. "What do you think?"

Carl smiled breifly at Beatrice before climbing in. He looked at the papers he had been looking through for the trip and sighed. There isn't much else to find in those. but he picked them up and started looking through them again.

"We'll see," Van Helsing smiled. "Right now I think that John will be out of it for a little bit... which means we can focus more on Dracula."

 

"If you'd like," Edward replied, running a hand through her hair. "It's... it's up to you, I guess."

 

"Not really," Lestat said. "I don't really care either way. I'd like you to stop being so hostile. You're quite an interesting man, but you should try some politeness and charm every so often."

BIC: "Okay," Hannah sighed. "Now."

"Politeness and charm don't work with Hannah," John retaliated.

 

"Do you want to tell me what happened with Lestat?" Edward asked slowly. "Sorry, but someone like me doesn't really understand the phrase 'blood exchange' very well."

 

Lestat bit his lower lip, swallowing a laugh and tilting his head back. "Ah," he began. "I wouldn't say that..."

 

"It is what it sounds like," Hannah tried to keep her voice steady. "I... bit him first.... Then he bit me." She turned her eyes to the floor. "I don't regret it. I'm thankful to him."

John glared at Lestat. "You of all people would know."

 

"True..." Jinx agreed, slowly. "I wonder if the other people who want to kill us will give us a break while we kill him off." she smiled.

 

Van Helsing smiled back. "I doubt it," he replied. "I'd rather get rid of more of them now, all the pests that seem to follow us around..."

 

Edward frowned, pursing his lips. "Hmm," he began slowly. "I... I'm guessing that's all, exactly, that happened?"

 

"I didn't enjoy it as much as you seem to put on," Lestat shrugged honestly. "I did figure that kindness and empathy work a lot better than your usual approaches..."

 

"Yes," Hannah said, trying to keep the lie out of her voice.

"She certainly doesn't deserve it." John growled.
