Van Helsing (Cont.)

Edward growled but kept his mouth shut, letting his eyes stray to John.

 

"Now with my blood, little one," Lestat smiled. "You'll be fine for a very long time."

 

"That was really stupid of me, wasn't it?" Beatrice murmured.

Hannah fidgited against Michael's hold on her; it was different from Edward's hold and she didn't like it. She couldn't focus on anything but her irritation with Michael's arms around her, especially when he tightened his grip, assuming the wrong reason for her squirming.

OOC: epic lolz! john got a boo boo!

 

Edward's eyes went back to Hannah as Van Helsing walked over to him. "Leave John," he said, giving him a nod of thanks. "Michael, you and Van Helsing take Hannah back to the carriages now. I will be there in a minute."

 

Van Helsing hesitated, but then nodded and turned, looking at Michael. "Shall I get Beatrice?" he added.

 

"Depends what exactly you're referring to," Lestat commented.

 

"Go ahead," Michael replied. "I can handle Hannah. Though," He looked at Edward. "She'd be more comfortable with you."

 

Hannah's hazed eyes searched until they found Edward. "Don't take me away from him," She pleaded to Michael.

Beatrice sighed. "I do do a lot of stupid things."

"You don't want to leave?" Edward sighed, getting fustrated with Michael. "Fine; stay and let her see this."

He stepped over to John, cocking back the hammer of his gun once more. He stuck one of his feet under the vampire's stomach, kicking him over onto his back. Edward fired one of his two last bullets into John's right kneecap, the final one lodging into his collarbone, the force dislocating his right shoulder. Edward moved back slightly, running a hand through his hair and sighing.

Lestat chuckled under his breath, and then froze, hearing the gunshots echo in the trees. "Sounds like Edward got a little madder than his girlfriend," he spoke.

 

Michael covered Hannah's eyes in time. "Whether you wanted to see that or not," he murmured to her quietly. "It would have driven you off the edge."

Van Helsing frowned and looked away from John, toward the carriages. "Let's move," he muttered a moment later.

Edward nodded and stepped over to Michael. "Give her to me," he whispered calmly, putting Van Helsing's now-empty gun into his pocket again.

 

John's blood formed puddles on the ground. He tried to focus on healing the wounds, but the bullets were in the way and too deep for him to get out himself. "Imagine," he gasped. "A vampire bleeding to death."

Hannah's stomach knotted, the pain in her head leaving as she got dizzy. "I feel sick..." She was surprised at how quiet her voice was. She was suddenly glad for Michael's arms around her, feeling too disoriented to stand on her own.

Beatrice's head snapped in the direction of the gunshot. "He didn't.... Did he?"

 

Michael carefully transferred Hannah to Edward. "She didn't see."

 

"Let's go," Van Helsing repeated, motioning with his arm.

 

"Good," Edward said, ignoring John and holding Hannah as tightly to him as he could. "Let's move before he gets the nerve to speak again."

 

Lestat nodded. "They're moving again soon, little one," he spoke. "I think you'll be safe to leave now... since you're dying to get away from me, I'm sure."

 

Hannah finally registered John's words. Could a vampire bleed to death? It explained the sick feeling spreading through her.

"That's not true," Beatrice countered.

 

Michael glanced at John. That's going to take a while to heal from.
