Van Helsing (Cont.)

Hannah barely felt Edward's hand on hers. She looked at Michael, her head slightly tilted, as she tried to discern something different about him. He looks normal. If I was just walking by him, I'd think he was human.

Michael smiled at Hannah, laughing when she scowled at him and turned her head away. "Then I guess I will be accompanying you."

"Well," Beatrice started thoughtfully. "There's room with Edward and Hannah. Or you could sit up top with Van Helsing... or me."

Michael shook his head at Beatrice. "Now that that hunter is dead, there is a horse without a master. I think it would be cruel to just leave him here. I can ride alongside the carriage."

"Okay," Beatrice agreed after a moment.

Let me get this straight, John snapped. The one who bit MY girl is trying to convince me to do more than just kill her?

 

Carl kept his annoyance at Beatrice's invitation to sit up with her from his face. "Alright, let's get things set up to leave then." he said quickly. "The road we're on should take us straight there in about a day."

Jinx looked at Beatrice for a moment and then back to the others. "That's good, we can finally get there. I hope Ms. Anna lets us in without any problem." she smiled and then hopped down from her seat. "Should we go get the horses and things readY?"

 

"Edward said he and Hannah would get the four horses ready, dear," Van Helsing commented at Jinx, giving her a small wink. "I'll go pay for our rooms... come with me?"

 

Edward nodded and led Hannah out of the room, resisting the urge to yank her as far away from Michael as possible. They went down the stairs and he decided it best to speak his mind: "I'm sorry if I seem rude," he began quietly as they left the inn. "But, the truth is... I'm afraid for you."

 

If I were in your position, Lestat explained calmly, I would want my girl to suffer, to make her feel like she was finally dead, and then not give her the satisfation of death itself... but you aren't one for torture, are you? Too much of a soft heart...

 

Jinx rolled her eyes slighlty but smiled warmly. "Alright, let's go pay." she walked out of the room with him.

Carl couldn't help smiling alittle at Van Helsing. He was glad to see his friend acting happier for at least the moment.

"This Anna," Van Helsing began as they walked. "I can't believe I haven't heard of her before if her whole life is devoted to Dracula... I can't think of how she will react to us all, especially you and Hannah and everything."

BIC: Jinx smiled slyly, "Ah, but does she need to know what any of us are? It's so easy to trick humans who can't smell the difference between an illusion and the real thing."

 

OOC: just finished heroes!! (oh and my essay too XD) mmmm peter!

BIC: Hannah laced her fingers through Edward's. "I don't like the way he looks at me." She murmured.

Beatrice glanced at Michael. "Maybe you should just keep you distance for a while."

I never said I'd kill her right away. John amended. I wouldn't expect that kind of suggestion from you.

 

"True," Van Helsing nodded. "You can do that to everyone, even Beatrice?"

 

Edward nodded as they walked over to the stables. "I don't either," he growled under his breath. "I don't care how much Van Helsing trusts him or thinks he's useful, I don't want him around. We'll be fine without him."

 

It's not my fault I'm a gorgeous fiend, John, Lestat muttered, almost seriously. It's just the card I drew.

 

Michael frowned. "I understand. It's very difficult at first. Too many intesified emotions. Everything is blown out of proportion. It's hard to tell what's right or wrong anymore. The urge to kill is escpecially strong. It's very important that she doesn't get angry."

 

Jinx nodded, proudly, "Sure. Sight is the easiest sense to glamour and doing glamours to appear human is pretty much second nature to me."

 

"But," Hannah countered. "Even if I don't like him, I could learn something from him. I don't want to be ignorant about... this... situation." She stumbled over her words.

"You know a lot," Beatrice commented.

So you did it on purpose? John questioned. You wanted this happen?

 

Van Helsing smiled as they reached the counter and he pulled a pouch of coins out of his pocket. "I'm sure Hannah and Beatrice would appreciate that," he said softly. "I think Michael and Edward can deal with staying the same they are. Carl and I will be fine."

 

"I told you that this thing isn't permanent," Edward insisted, helping Sorin and Lexi out of their ajoining stalls. "It will all be over soon... I hope. I think I can survive to fix all this."

 

"Yeah, you and Carl at least are fine the way you are... a little fright never hurt anyone." Jinx tried to keep her face straight as they payed. "I'm just kidding." she added soon, unable to keep herself from grinning.

 

"I am 350 years old," Michael laughed. "I've got a lot of experience."
