Van Helsing (Cont.)

Hannah slowly, unwillingly, stepped away from Lestat. "Thank you," She said quietly as she drew up her hood. "For everything, really. I'm not sure how things would have turned out without you."

Beatrice stared at Michael. Why'd he say all that now?

 

"Ah," Van Helsing said, with a little sigh. He saw Edward glare it him, but ignored it. "So how many innocent people have you killed?"

 

Because he's stupid, trying to win Van Helsing's trust, Edward thought to Beatrice. Figures; if I won't trust him, Van Helsing will... just to piss me off, I bet.

 

"Oh, don't be sad," Lestat chuckled, reaching up to brush her cheek with his fingers before stepping away toward the thicker part of the trees. "Just remember: life without me would be even more unbearable!"

 

"Four. All on my first full moon." Michael answered truthfully.

 

Hannah tried to smile. She was about to say good-bye, but thought better off it; after all, she knew she'd see Lestat again. Trying to keep her smile, she walked back to the inn.

Oh, Beatrice folded her arms. That's not really a good reason for him to trust Michael.

 

"I guess that's understandable," Van Helsing sighed, nodding his head.

 

Jinx glared at Edward for his first comment to them but then turned her eyes on Michael. "Nice to meet you." she finally said, smiling kindly. "I'm sure Hannah will be happy to meet another lycan."

 

"What?" Edward snapped, standing quickly and staring at Van Helsing in disbelief. "You're joking," he growled in half a laugh. "You have to be; I mean, Hannah kills someone accidentally and it takes weeks for you to consider not shooting her, and this guys walks in and you just think murder on a first moon is understandable? I'll tell you something," Edward added, turning to Michael and glaring at him. "I've had werewolf venom in my veins for over twenty years now, as well as my dead family on my mind, and I haven't killed anyone."

Not waiting for a response, Edward turned from the room and left, slamming the door as hard as he could behind him.

Lestat, dammit, he began in his mind, his voice hot like fire. You better have brought her back or I will kill something now.

 

Just walk out the front door, my friend, Lestat muttered politely as he walked through the trees, further into the dark. She's headed your way.

 

Jinx winced as he slammed the door. "Ah, welcome to our group." she said to Michael, shaking her head. "I hope he calms down soon..."

 

Hannah pulled her hair over her shoulders, adjusting her hood to keep it on. She pursed her lips and ran her tongue over her teeth, trying to make the blood less visable.

 

"But you've never had werewolf and vampire venom," Michael muttered once Edward was gone. "I see what you meant, Beatrice."

"It wasn't you," Beatrice said quickly. "He's just a bit on edge since," Her eyes flickered to the door. "since Hannah's not here."

 

"Now, Michael," Van Helsing began, ignoring what Edward said completely. "What are your intentions for being here exactly?"

 

"Hannah?" Edward began suddenly, seeing the hooded figure walking in his direction. He ran up to her once he saw her face, crushing her against his chest the moment he could reach her. "God," he sighed, slipping a hand under her hood to touch her cheek. "Are you alright?"

 

Lestat sighed, and then smiled to himself. Well, I wonder what will happen next month, he thought to himself.

 

"I'm looking for Marcus." Michael answered, his eyes turning hard. "He killed Seline... after he killed me."

 

"Yeah," Hannah replied. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm great, thanks to Lestat." She smiled.

"Wait...," Beatrice stared at Michael. "What did you say..?"

 

Jinx also got thrown off by his statement. "What do you mean by killed you?" she asked, thinking about the different definitions people had of that.

 

"And what use can we be to find someone when we all already have a goal in mind?" Van Helsing added.
