"Well, I know that feeling, trust me," Lestat sighed, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and pulling her head down close to his chest. "You just stay calm... that will help."

 

"Well than i"m sorry for that." Jinx closed her eyes. "it isn't fair. I hate him. I know I do. I hate him and I don't want to see anyone else get hurt by him... but everything I think about kill him... it's like I'm thinking about killing you." she sighed. "God damn him."

Will walked through the forest, stopping at a clearing. Ah, I really am too hard on her. But my god, I haven't actully enjoyed myself in years. This is quite funny.

 

Hannah wished her heart wouldn't pound against her chest every time Lestat touched her, but she didn't mind now, it was keeping her unwanted thoughts at bay. "Calm... I think I can manage that."

"Edward...?" Beatrice squeaked. Her eyes glazed over and she blacked out.

 

Michael caught Beatrice. "Is this one of your friends?" He addressed Edward, stepping forward with Beatrice in his arms. "I'd hate to kill her if she's not what I think she is."

 

Van Helsing sighed. "I guess I'll just have to wait for another time," he said softly, and then looked at her. "Will you be alright?"

 

Edward cocked his head to the side, his breath catching in his throat just as it had steadied. "She's a good person, if that's what you mean," he began slowly. "And if you don't want me to do worse to you than Jake, I'd just let her be."

 

Jinx shrugged. "Probably." she looked crossed her arms. "Now what?" she tried to change the subject.

"Good," Lestat murmured. "Edward did tell me to do whatever it took to keep you safe, calm... I guess I'm not complaining."

 

"Well, we are alone," Van Helsing began teasingly, and then laughed.

 

"Why not?" Hannah asked. "You technically have your arms around a monster, you know."

 

Michael laughed. "I wouldn't kill her just because she's a vampire." He looked down at Beatrice, frowned, and wiped the blood off her lips and chin. "Now that I look at her, she's too delicate to be what I'm looking for."

 

"And what exactly are you looking for?" Edward asked, trying to ignore the smell of blood in the air that bothered him more in huan form.

 

"I'm just as awful," Lestat said. "You cannot even..." he faded off, his voice actually choking slightly. "Cannot... imagine some of the things I've done..."

 

"Probably not." Hannah answered, tensing slightly.

 

Michael sighed. "His name is Marcus." He wiped his hand on his pants and then brushed the hair out of Beatrice's face.

 

Edward frowned. "There's no one here that knows anyone by that name," he spoke. "So you'd best leave."

 

"I could tell you things that would make you look like a saint," Lestat muttered under his breath.

 

"They must be pretty bad." Hannah murmured, trying to keep the tension out of her voice.

 

Michael sighed. "Seems no one knows of him these days. He's a very good hider." He looked up at Edward. "May I ask what her name is?" He nodded towards Beatrice, his hold on her protective.

 

"You can ask her yourself, if you're so interested," Edward replied, trying to sound polite.
