It doesn't matter anymore, Edward retorted, biting deep into Jake's neck again. Move any farther and I'll rip off your head and just be done with it.

 

"I could just kill you and be done with it," Van Helsing snapped, raising his bow.

 

"You'll be fine," Lestat laughed, raising his hand again. "You don't have to trust yourself; just me."

 

Will shrugged. "That's true." he smiled at Jinx. "Or he could try, at least." before she could react he stood behind her, lightly setting his hands on her shoulders.

Jinx felt anger burn in her and she tried to pull out of his grasp. His grip tightned. "Get off."

"Oh calm down. I'm not going to hurt you or even bother with your feelings." Will muttered, in her ear. "I'm just showing you something."

 

Hannah timidly sat next to Lestat, feeling for the first time that she could fully trust Lestat.

Beatrice quietly followed the sounds of Edward and Jake. She halted abruptly, Edward's voice ringing in her head.

 

Jake's growl caught in his throat. You don't fight fair at all.

 

Van Helsing looked to Jinx. "It's... it's up to you."

 

That's just too bad for you, isn't it? Edward replied. Anything else before I rip your head off?

 

"That's better," Lestat smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Now how are you feeling?"

 

"Truthfully?" Hannah asked carefully, hearing her heart skip at Lestat's touch.

 

One of your little bloodsuckers is behind you; watching. Jake's eyesight started blurring. And by the look on her face, she can hear us.

 

I don't care, Edward said, smiling, showing all his teeth before he sunk them into the thick, muscled sinew of the werewolf's neck, pulling, biting until Jake's head fell off and rolled and hit the nearest tree. Edward staggered back, collapsing down onto his stomach, breathing heavily and coughing a half-bark into the dirt.

Come out, Beatrice, he whispered, gagging up pieces of flesh and gouts of blood onto the grass.

 

"Fine." Jinx growled through her teeth. "What is it William?"

"Look at how angry you are." Will answered, talking just in her ear. "You could just take that little blade I know you always carry and kill me."

"Shut up." Jinx snapped.

"Well, why don't you? Just take it and kill me like you want to."

"Stop it. I can't." Jinx sharply pulled her shoulder from him, throwing herself slightlly off balance. "Van Helsing, help me." she asked, while Will just laughed and took hold of one of her hands.

"Ah, alright. I think I've scared you enough." Will squeezed her hand lightly. "You understand now, you can hate me all you want but I'm staying here, because you won't get rid of me."

 

Lestat chuckled and turned his head so his mouth was an inch from her ear. "Yes..." he whispered, his voice soft and sweet, coated in a happy tone. "Truthfully."

 

"She wants to get rid of you, you idiot!" Van Helsing exclaimed, almost sighing. "Don't you?" he added a moment later, softer, looking at Jinx.

 

"I'm scared." Hannah managed to say after a moment, her voice barely audiable to human ears. "And I haven't eaten in a week." She hesitated. "And I've got an urge to just... rip something apart...."

Beatrice gripped her head, shaking, but stayed where she was. Grateful that the smell of werewolf blood was absolutely appalling to her, she looked away from it and closed her eyes.

 

Will laughed. "My god and you think I'm an idiot."

"Yes! But I can't. You dont' understand!" Jinx yelled, ripping her hand out of Will's. She back up away from both of them. "I can't kill him. But I want him dead. I want you dead!" she directed the last statement at Will, who didn't even seem fazed.

"Yes, I understood that the first time you said it." he answered, smiling. "But since neither of you can do it or will do it. Good evening." he bowed to her and disapeared into the forest.

Jinx swore loudly. "He, he..." she stumbled over what she wanted to say. "I don't get it!" she looked at the spot in the forest he'd run into. "I'm sorry..." she finally mumbled.

 

"That was unexpected." A voice murmured near Beatrice. "I never thought I'd see a werewolf kill another werewolf."

 

"Don't apologize," Van Helsing sighed, lowering his bow. "If there's something you need to be sorry for, it's not keeping him long enough to let me kill him."

 

Edward turned, phasing quickly so he could stand speak aloud. He could see Beatrice just in the shadows, but nothing else.

"Who's there?" he asked quietly, wiping the blood off his chin.
