Hannah was a bit upset that there was something else she couldn't be told, but she still managed to smile at Edward. "I hope it does."

Extremely. John muttered.

 

"So do I," Edward sighed, and leaned down to kiss her.

 

I have a feeling she really does have the courage and conviction in her that you speak of, Lestat said, trying to be encouraging. It may just take the right situation to have her... show the lack of control you wish.

 

"We should get back." Hannah sighed, breaking the kiss after a moment. "And I really should go out with Beatrice and Jinx tonight."

That would be the moon tomorrow night. John replied. I'm sure she'll enjoy the power. Once she stops worrying about killing that is.

 

"You do whatever you need," Edward said, trying to smile. He put his arm around her again and started back toward the inn.

 

Very true, Lestat muttered, knowing the feeling. Though killing randomly hasn't been something I do very often...

 

Hannah pulled her cloak around herself, wincing at the sting the fabric caused her hand. "I'm glad you understand."

I don't think she'll kill randomly. I think it will be her instinct of enemy over friend. John theorized. Or whoever pissed her off last.

 

"We both have things about each other that we need to understand," Edward replied. "I'm willing to try my best to understand everything I can... and Carl can do something about that for you, to help it heal," he added, nodding toward her hand.

 

It's brilliant how much you know about her, Lestat mused. I... I've known a lot about my own fledglings, but not intuitively as you seem to. It must be a trait your generation posesses.

 

"It'll be fine." Hannah said. "Just give it a moment. I have burned myself before. This is a bit worse, but I'll live." She smiled.

I just pay close attention. John responded. And pry a bit in her thoughts.

 

"If you insist," Edward said, swallowing his worry as they reached the inn.

 

That's how it works for you, Lestat replied softly. My children are much different than yours.

 

Hannah shook off her hood the moment they were inside. "Okay, I'll let Carl take a look at it."

I figured as much. John said. I'm just puzzled over why.

 

"Good," Edward smiled, starting to climb the stairs. "I wonder what they've been talking about this whole time."

 

"You're different than me," Lestat said aloud. "It may be that simple."

 

"Either nothing, us, or Dracula." Hannah guessed.

John nodded. "Maybe. It is intriguing though."

 

"Of course," Edward said with a small laugh. "Should we really bother them, though?" he added when they reached the door.

 

Isn't it? Lestat agreed. Maybe I can find out more about it someday...

 

"There is another room we can go to." Hannah reminded Edward. "We can just stay there until they're done."

With all the time in the world, John started. It'll be figured out someday.
