Van Helsing (Cont.)

Van Helsing shrugged lightly. "I'll be fine," he replied. "Now, I guess our main goal should be figuring out how to do this a better way."

Lestat pursed his lips, dusting off the forearms of his velvet sleeves. "True, true," he sighed. "She doesn't seem to be doing very well on her own. What on earth are you going to do now?"

 

Hannah glanced at Van Helsing and Jinx as she passed, but her eyes lingered on the sleeping Anna longer. She scowled and then continued on by.

Jinx watched Hannah walk by. "Hm... that's right." she agreed. "Possibly there's a way to bring him to us?"

"Watch hell break loose, for now." Will answered, looking up at the rising sun. "Although, it might be interesting to find this Dracula for myself, while my Jinx and her friend's rest."

 

"That's an idea," Van Helsing agreed. "What on earth do you have, though, that could draw him to us? Maybe we could ask this one," he added, motioning to Anna. "Hey!" he snapped. "Hey, get up already!"

"Not unless 'your' Jinx tumbles around with that hunter she seems so fond of," Lestat chuckled, already focusing on Beatrice and how to get right to her. "That'll be a fun one."

 

Jinx quietly laughed as Anna was woken up. "It would be nice if she had something in this place to bring him here. For a family obsessed with Dracula..." she trailed off her thoughts with a gesture around the room.

Will's smile vanished and was replaced with a blank expression. "'Fun', 'sick', whatever you want to call that."

Carl jerked his head up as Van Helsing tried to wake Anna. "Wha? oh, it's morning?" he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

 

"Hey, Anna, you want to help, I'd suggest you wake up and brainstorm with us here," Van Helsing insisted, shaking his head.

Lestat bit his lip, swallowing a smile. "Can you imagine what they're doing right now?" he taunted happily. "Who knows what happened last night, where everyone stands after their silly little defeat here."

 

Will kept his gaze firmly on the sky, trying not to rise to the bait. "Who knows." he echoed. "Maybe that hunter will come to his senses and take an interest in the other human woman." he thought aloud.

Jinx drumed her fingers on the arm rest, waiting for Anna to get up.

 

"You might as well sleep while you can," Anna mumbled back to Van Helsing.

 

"Oh, I'm done sleeping, Miss Anna!" Van Helsing insisted. "I mean... it's been quite a few hours and we have things to do. Unless you think shutting our eyes and snoring will finish Dracula, I suggest we move."

Lestat smiled wider. "Perhaps," he agreed. "But I guess I shall let you watch that interesting feat while I go help my lost, sad... rather pathetic child."

 

Anna quickly sat up. "You don't think he's actually there, do you? Dracula won't be back for a while."

 

"How do you suggest we find them, then?" Van Helsing replied. "Are you saying last night we were just lucky he was there, and now that we failed once, we don't know when our next chance may be?"

 

"No," Anna replied. "What I meant was that now that he knows that we can get to him, he probably will stay away for awhile until he thinks we've given up."

 

Jinx glowered at her hands, hearing Anna's opinion and wanting to do anything but wait around for Dracula to think they'd given up. "So we have to stay here waiting for him to think it's safe? That is a complete waste of time. Isn't there something that you or your ansestors found that would make him come to us?" she asked.

"Good luck with that. I may find you again just to see how she is reacting to your help." Will wasn't quite smiling but no longer seemed so annoyed. He turned towards Dracula's castle. "For now, I'll see if I can't find Dracula."

 

Van Helsing snorted at Jinx's comment. "That's true," he sighed. "You know, do you think he's aware of the one thing that can kill him? Wouldn't that be something we should think about?"

Edward rolled over in his sleep and opened his eyes for a moment. I wonder when Hannah will get back, he thought, and shut his eyes again.

Lestat smiled. "I don't want anything to do with that monster, but you feel free to do whatever you wish." With that, he turned on the spot and disappeared. He envisioned Beatrice in his mind, sitting on the stairs all alone, her head in her hands. He was next to her a moment later, leaning back on the stairs, his fingers laced behind his head in his blonde hair.

"Hello, little one," he yawned.

 

Will watched Lestat vanish before walking towards Dracula's castle. He was fairly certain the other vampire wasn't at home but it couldn't hurt to look.

 

OOC: hmm... i think a miss "GARXENA" needs to help the story along here... lol

BIC: "I would assume that he does know," Anna answered Van Helsing. "Which means that he must have some kind of protection against that."

Beatrice used her sleeve to wipe her eyes, though there were no tears. "You just came to laugh at me, didn't you?" She asked in what was supposed to be a strong voice but was just a whisper. She stood up and crossed her arms over her chest, trying to look tough. "Well, I- I'm fine."

 

"True," Van Helsing agreed. "Maybe we should explore that castle some more because I bet we'd find more interesting things there now that everyone is rested and healed."

Edward sat up, unable to sleep anymore. "Where is she?" he thought, glancing at the ticking clock on the wall. "It's been over an hour..."

Lestat chuckled under his breath, putting a hand down the steps to touch Beatrice's hair. "Of course not, little one," he soothed. "You're just a little lost, my dear. Tell me... what's on your mind?"

 

"But what about the Dwergi?" Anna asked. "I'm sure they're still there."

Beatrice clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. "I feel like I only cause trouble. I haven't done anything that has really helped anyone. I've tried and everytime it seems like I make a situation worse rather than better." Drops of blood plinked onto the stairs from her palms. "I sick and tired of being like this. All I get it crap from Hannah and pity from the others!"
