Van Helsing (Cont.)

"We'll walk," Van Helsing insisted, and went over to Edward. He bent over and wrapped his arms around Edward's waist and, carefully of his arms, balanced him in his grasp.

Dracula looked over at Beatrice, smiling slightly. "Happy to see me?" he asked.​

 

Edward winced, embarrassed as Van Helsing carried him.

"Don't think I owe you anything for this," he grunted. "I don't."

 

"Where are we?" Beatrice asked tentatively.

 

Van Helsing laughed under his breath, heading back down the stairs toward the mirrored door.

"The top of the castle, my dear," Dracula answered smoothly. "You'll get used to this place as well as my other homes over the years... it usually doesn't take too long."​

 

Jinx walked beside Edward and Van Helsing as they desended the stairs. She watched the werewolf carefully as he healed slowly.

 

"This isn't my home," Beatrice objected, her voice still soft. "You said you said you'd take me back to my home."

Hannah walked close to Edward, smiling to herself. He's never going to let you live this down.

 

"I lied," Dracula grinned.​

 

I know, Edward sighed in Hannah's head. He just knows that he need me and that I could kill him if I wanted...

BIC: "But you promised," Beatrice stood up.

But you won't. Hannah said.

 

"I know," Dracula shrugged nonchallantly. "What is your point, little one?"​

 

I know... Edward replied to Hannah, grunting aloud as the bones in his arms finally decided to heal. Believe it or not, we need him as well... I do like him.

 

"What do you want?" Beatrice crossed her arms, not angrily or defensively, but because she was scared. "You said you'd take me home and you haven't, so what is it that you want from me?"

That is hard to believe, Hannah tried to joke. We could do this without him.

 

"I've lost all of them," Dracula said, only a little sadness in his voice. "My brides... with one taste of your blood and I can already tell you'll be stronger than all three of them."​

 

"No," Beatrice answered flatly. "I don't want to be one of your brides."

 

We may need him, Edward corrected. We don't know for sure that we don't need him... not yet.

 

And much use was he in this fight? All he did was kill Anna's brother. Hannah crossed her arms.

Anna did nothing.

"You think you've a choice now?" Dracula replied, catching Beatrice's eyes. "It's all done already."​

 

Seeing Edward heal, Jinx glanced over at Van Helsing, smiling alittle. "So, 'Gabriel'? she asked. "That's a nice first name, why didn't we know it ealier?"
