Van Helsing (Cont.)

"You and I have more strength than the others," Michael replied, just a quietly. "Just pull and you'll see." He got a secure hold on the door and waited for Hannah.

 

Hannah stood close to Michael to get a grip just below his hands. She pulled with him, very surprised at how the door seemed to be light. She tried putting a little more effort into it and felt Michael do the same. Within a few moments, the two lycans had the door open enough for all of them to get through easily.

 

Jinx kept her eyes on the firgure, who she was sure now was a bride, in the window. "Great!" she complimented, hearing the door was open.

 

"Just great," Van Helsing added, seeing Aleera move away from the window above them. "They know we're here. Move!"

 

"That was amazing," Edward said to Hannah, walking up to her as everyone slowly entered the castle.

 

Hannah looked down at her hands. "Let's hope I don't have to do any thing like that again."

Edward nodded, looking around the foyer of the castle with Van Helsing next to him.

"Which way?" he asked.

 

"That way." Jinx answered Edward, pointing up the stairs that led far above. "She's right above us." she looked at Van Helsing. "Any ideas about Dracula?" she asked, hopefully.

 

"Edward has to do it," Van Helsing replied to Jinx. "The werewolf venom..."

 

"I know, but about finding him? He's not just going to let us walk up to him, is he? I sort of got the feeling he was smarter than that." Jinx said, sounding uneasy but excited simeltaniously (shhhh i can spell!). She was already leaning towards the stairs, trying to catch a glimpse or scent of Aleera before they were jumped

 

"I can't take him on my own," Edward insisted quickly. "There's no way I can; I need your help... all of you."

 

"We'll all help as much as we can," Hannah assured Edward.

 

"I think our best bet is up," Van Helsing suggested. "I really think that Dracula is up... and Aleera will be protecting him."

"Aleera..." Dracula began, turning from his seat at the window of the top tower. He waited until she appeared next to him. "Get rid of our visitors; I'll be very... agitated if I have to do it myself."

 

"Bullets," Edward added suddenly to Van Helsing. "I need more for the gun you gave me."

 

Jinx nodded, she absently cracked her knuckles. "Let's go then." she said, a faint smile on her lips. She started up the stairs with everyone, her eyes flashing around for signs of movement.

Carl pulled out some bullets from the bag of artilery he had slung over his shoulder. "Here, this should be good for awhile." he said, handing them to Edward.

 

Anna checked her gun to make sure that she was loaded properly.

Hannah looked back at Beatrice and was slightly agitated to find her still murmuring to Michael.

 

"You mean the gun I let you borrow," Van Helsing reiterated as they climbed the stairs.

 

Jinx resisted rolling her eyes. Bullets, guns, blah blah blah. Tearing and biting are so much easier. She hurried up the stairs, keeping her eyes striaght ahead of her and her body ready to fight.

 

"Beatrice, you don't have to do this," Michael tried to make Beatrice see reason. "You're still very young and this isn't exactly... safe."

 

"I don't expect you to understand," Beatrice muttered coldly.

Hannah looked forward again, but kept her ears tuned to Michael and Beatrice's conversation.
