Van Helsing (Cont.)

Jinx nodded, then she was silent for a few moments as she cast a sound glamour over her voice. "Velkan?" she called out, in Anna's voice.

Carl looked at Edward, surprised to see him up. "Anna went down after hearing a crash, we don't know why but Van Helsing followed her." he explained

 

Van Helsing raised his eyebrows, surprised. Wow, he thought to himself. I never thought I'd hear that voice come out of that body...

 

Michael addressed Edward, "Werewolf."

There was a soft whine from behind Van Helsing and Jinx, Velkan had come out of his hiding. He sniffed the air and, finding no trace of Anna's scent, lunged for Jinx.

 

Beatrice gave Michael a suprised look. "What do you mean there was a werewolf?"

 

Jinx yelped alittle as he jumped at her and threw her onto the ground. As she started to push him off, a low growl came from her throat. Her body was going into defensive mood, making her eyes go red, her teeth elongate, and her nails grow into claws.

 

"Jinx!" Van Helsing shouted, aiming his gun quickly, but he couldn't shoot yet, waiting for a clear shot at just the werewolf.

 

"Out there?" Edward gasped. "Did Van Helsing and Jinx go after it? Alone?"

 

Jinx's nails sunk into Velaken's skin as she clawed at him to get him off. "Shot already!" she growled, her voice inhuman, to Van Helsing as she leg shot up to kick at Velaken.

 

"It's true," Beatrice agreed. "Her heartbeat isn't in the castle anymore."

"Don't!" Anna grabbed Van Helsing's gun, throwing off the shot.

 

Michael nodded. "But Anna left shortly after them. I have a feeling she's not a hard hearted as she puts off."

Velkan growled, turning to glance at Anna and then running off into the fog.

 

Van Helsing turned, grabbing Anna by the throat and pinning her against the nearest tree.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" he snapped, tightening his grip in anger. "Why did you do that?"

 

"No!" Edward growled. "They can't handle a werewolf at this point in the moon's cycle! Why didn't they call me?"

Edward turned and ran out of the hall and through the front doors, stumbling and catching his footing twice. He followed the tracks in the snow until saw Van Helsing, Jinx, and Anna.

"What happened?" he asked, hanging over his knees and gasping for breath. "Where is it? I'll find him."

 

"I... I can't explain," Anna choked out.

 

"Stay with Hannah," Michael told Jinx and followed after Edward. He let a bit of his lycan sense take over, his eyes melting to black. He couldn't see anymore, but he could hear and smell much better.

 

"You better!" Van Helsing snapped, slamming her against the tree again, his anger rising. "Tell us what the hell is wong with you! You want to kill these monsters, and you stop me? Explain, now!"

 

"Jinx," Edward asked, ignoring Van Helsing for a moment and crouching next to the girl. "Are you alright? Did it hurt you?"

 

"He's... my brother," Anna answered solomly.

 

"Edward," Michael came up on the group. "The werewolf is headed north. I don't think it wise to chase him down. You're in no condition and there is more important business back with Hannah."

"My ideas? My plans? Oh, they are very... private, my friend," Lestat said to Will after a moment. "You'll just have to see as they... unfold."

 

Edward growled, but swallowed and shut his eyes for a moment, calming himself.

"Why do you care so much about her?" he whispered now, his fists clenched tightly.
