Van Helsing (Cont.)

"Hannah," Edward began, letting his voice and footsteps echo down to the hallway to the main room. "I'm sorry," he began, keeping his distance from her. "I really am."

 

Jinx smiled alittle. "I think it would." her smile disapeared as they walked. She watched him walk carefully, still afraid he'd fall over.

Carl looked at him and shrugged. "I think we need to get the bullets out of Bee. Whatever everyone wants to to fight about right now doesn't really matter for the time being." he answered.

 

"You don't hate me, do you?" Van Helsing asked suddenly. "Last thing we need is to hate each other when we should all be united under a common goal."

 

Hannah stood in front of the mirror. "Don't worry, Edward, I'm not going to go balistic." She responded.

Michael nodded in agreement. "Which way do you find best? Hannah's or Edward's?"

 

"If I hated you, would I care if you broke anything?" Jinx asked back, looking at him seriously. "Don't get me wrong, I'm angry at you and I'm not sure if I forgive you, but I don't think I can hate you."

"Honestly? Edward's right. I've done some medical type work before and drugs are too unpredicable." Carl answered.

 

"I know," Edward said, stepping over to her slowly. "I just wanted to make sure you don't hate me for no reason." He reached up and tentatively put his hands on her shoulders, resting his thumbs in between her shoulderblades.

 

"Good," Van Helsing said with a small smile. "Well," he sighed, stopping at the nearest bedroom door. "I think this is far enough from Edward for now, don't you?"

 

Jinx looked back down the hall way they'd come from. "I think so." she agreed. "But I'd lock the door anyway, if I were you."

 

Van Helsing laughed lightly. "I'm not completely defenseless, you know," he replied. "I can take him if he stays in human form. And I doubt he will change and waste all his engery on me when he wants to focus on John."

 

"I'm not mad at you," Hannah said, feeling a bit of the tension ease away. "But Bee is in there hurt and you were arguing over me?"

"Let's just hope that she has a strong stomach," Michael said. "Last thing we need is her throwing up."

 

"That's why I'm sorry," Edward sighed, leaning forward so his forehead rested on the back of her head. "I want Bee to get better, and I honestly think she'll be fine. But I don't like Micheal around you or her, the way he acts or behaves. Just... don't be angry at me or him. We're acting stupidly."

 

Hannah laughed lightly. "Yes, you are. But I forgive you." She turned around to wrap her arms around Edward and rest her cheek on his shirt. "And I still wish I knew what was going to happen tonight...."

 

"yes, I can see you can take care of yourself." Jinx shook her head, "That's why I'm having a hard time breathing with all that blood coming out of you."

"True, that would help. But she's strong, I'm sure she can handle it." Carl said. "So, now we just need to get something for her to drink and I need to get my medical things to get the bullets out."

 

"Anna did say she had a bar." Michael pointed out.

 

"You can handle it," Edward said, kissing the top of her head. "Don't worry. Just... try to keep your energy focused. That's something we'll both need, especially me. If you aren't as strong as you can be tonight I might not make it."

 

"I'm sorry," Van Helsing said apologetically. "You should go, then, till I clean up. Just... get me when Anna comes back, remember?"

 

"It's fine." Jinx waved off his apology. "I'll make sure to tell you when she comes home, don't worry." she assured him. "Feel better, alright? It's hard to be angry at you when you look so beat up." she smiled at him and started back up the hall to Bee's room.

"That works. I'll go get what we need if you'll stay with her for a moment?" Carl asked, moving to the doorway.

 

"So I'm allowed to get angry?" Hannah joked weakly. "What if... what if something bad happens?"

"Of course," Michael nodded.

 

"Nothing bad will happen," Edward insisted. "I'll make sure nothing bad happens until tonight when Lestat brings John."

 

"Wait," Hannah tensed. "What do you mean he's 'bringing' John?"
