Van Helsing (Cont.)

Jinx screamed shortly and was running past the men to Beatrice. She couldn't think of anything but the sound of Bee's scream and the look on Van Helsing's face when he'd pointed his gun at her..

Carl gasped and ran after them too, leaving Hannah. "Beatrice!" he yelled.

 

Edward skidded into the ground with Van Helsing, barely hearing the shots in his own ears. He sat up and saw Beatrice lying on the ground nearby.

"You son of a b.itch!" he yelled automatically, not hearing his own voice through the shock as he kneeled up and away from Van Helsing. He grabbed the hunter's collar and yanked him up, punching him hard across the jaw with his other fist.

 

Beatrice fell to the ground, Sorin's high pitched whinny piercing her ears. Her hands balled into fists, her nails digging into her palm. The pain blocked out everything but Sorin's franic neighing.

Hannah was jarred from her paralytic state. "Bee?" She turned on her heel. "Bee?!" She bolted outside next to Michael.

Michael knelt by Beatrice. The pain that showed more than clearly on her face sent waves of anger through him. He clenched his teeth and fought back the emotion. "Beatrice, can you hear me?"

Beatrice opened her mouth to answer, emminating only an agonized cry of pain.

 

Van Helsing shook his head, trying to move away from Edward, his brain rattled from slamming into the ground. He cried out when Edward smacked his gun out of his hand, his fist cracking into his jaw and cheekbone two more times.

"Get off!" he grunted, but could barely move when the werewolf pinned down his arms and legs, sitting on top of him as blood ran from his mouth and nose.

 

Jinx fell down next to Bee and looked over her for the wounds. "Please don't be silver. Please be something that will heal." she muttered, not even hearing herself speak as she looked for the bullets.

Carl reached them soon "Bee." he took her hand while Jinx searched for the bullets, propping her head up to keep her awake. "you'll be alright." he said, soothingly.

 

"Stay still or I will kill you!" Edward growled, feeling Van Helsing's nose break under his next punch. The hunter lessened his struggle now through a groan of pain, his limbs limp under the werewolf's hold.

"Where's she shot?" Edward snapped, his voice thick with anger and pain. "Someone tell me because I'm not letting his b.astard go!"

 

Jinx found the two bullets and let out a sigh as she saw they were just normal bullets. "Near her heart and in her stomach." she choaked out to answer Edward. "She'll be okay."

Carl sighed, squeezing her hand gently. "Rest, alright Bee? We'll take care of you."

 

"Take her inside," Edward ordered, unable to not shout over his shoulder now. "Help her before Anna gets back... I'll take care of him."

 

Jinx nodded and looked at the others. "Hannah, can you show us where the bedrooms are?" she asked.

Carl supported Bee, holding her gently, as they took her in.

 

Lestat flinched on the edge of the town, clenching his hands into fists. He could feel Beatrice's pain and reached out to her mind softly, touching it light enough with a warm, soft tone. Rest, my little Bee, he whispered. Let the dark take you... you are in good hands... He sighed to himself, running a hand through his hair as small bits of anger began to pelt his mind.

That hunter is going to die if I ever decide to waste an ounce of my energy on his damned soul... I'll make sure of that.

 

Hannah nodded numbly and led the way back inside.

"Less movement is better," Michael murmured, scooping Beatrice into his arms. He knew Carl wanted to help, but he could hold Beatrice with less movement than Carl could.

Beatrice gripped at empty air when her hand was taken from Carl's. A bigger hand replaced his and she felt herself being cradled against someone. She held the new hand tightly, trying desperately to stay awake. She finally let herself slip under when she heard Lestat.

Michael barely registered the pain of his bones cracking in his hand. He looked down at Beatrice when she sagged in his arms. "She's out," He told the others, taking his hand from Beatrice and flexing his fingers to crack the bones back into place. She's strong.

 

Jinx followed them until they passed Edward and Van Helsing, where she stopped and looked at Edward. She felt like she should tell him to stop but couldn't quite get the words out, "Edward..." she started, quietly.

Carl nodded to Micheal and walked with them inside.

 

Hannah opened the door for Michael and Carl. "Is your hand okay, Michael?"

Michael laid Beatrice on the bed as soon as they were in the room. He propped up her head with both pillows. "Yeah," Michael replied to Hannah. He used his good hand to forced the remaining out of place bones back into order. "It'll be fine."

 

"What is it?" Edward asked through his teeth, glancing up at Jinx now, unable to stop tears forming in his eyes.

 

"Edward, let me go," Van Helsing choked, a mouthful of blood spitting out the corners of his mouth and trailing down his cheeks and neck. "It was an acci-"

 

Edward punched the hunter hard across his temple, smacking his head back against the ground, the dull, reverberating crack of skull on hard mud echoing in the air.

"Don't make me kill you," Edward hissed, a line of blood trailing from his own mouth now as he bit down on his lip hard. "You've no idea how hard it is not to change and rip out your windpipe as slowly as possible with my teeth."

Edward growled and shut his eyes before looking back up at Jinx. "What?" he asked, his tone as calm and neutral as possible.
