Alright guys. RP starts right now, but before you take off with your posts, there are a few housekeeping items to take care of so make sure you read these points before you begin posting. I'll be placing this information on the front page as well, but to save some of you the trouble of going back to the front page after seeing this post, I'll write it here.

For those of you who've yet to submit a bio or make your edits:
The RP has started, however, I will still allow RP submissions today and tomorrow at the very latest. If you do not make your submission (or make the fixes I've asked very promptly of you) by the end of the 21st, depending on the circumstances I'm going to have to deny you participation in the RP. Due to the nature of this RP, waiting until Saturday to submit an bio may end being too late depending on how far in the RP we're in. I've allowed ample amounts of time for people to get their bios in, so drawing the line two days after the RP has started is not unreasonable. Bear in mind that until your bio is approved, you cannot post in the RP. Fix/submit your bio and wait until it is approved before you post. I will not take this lightly if people do not follow this instruction.

Guidelines/Rules on how to control story characters:
There are a few things I want all of you to keep in mind when interacting with story characters (more specifically: Aelthir (and his subordinates), Ariya Solanea, Dhobar Gibkoug and Theranraila Eyllanlith):

    - Try to keep them as very much in character as possible. The intro post you will soon read contains scenes using all four story characters so feel free to use the first post as a reference to as to how you write your scene when interacting with any of them. Naturally, I'm not expecting perfect imitations since everyone's interpretations vary, however, try not to stray too far from their character sketches.

    Important
    - when someone has taken control of a story character (by interacting with him/her) in their posts before anyone else has, they have "claimed" the character's attention and cannot be unclaimed until they have dismissed the character from their scene. If you wish to interact with a character that has currently been claimed, you must either:
    • wait until the poster has clearly dismissed the character from their scene, thus allowing the story character to be 'claimed' again.
    • you must enter your character in the same scene as the one told/described by the current claimer

Ex. If someone claimed Aelthir and 'saw him in the marketplace in Mhaura', if you want to interact with Aelthir as well, you must either wait until the poster has explicitly dismissed Aelthir from the scene (ex. character leaving the marketplace, or Aelthir leaving the marketplace) or place your character in the marketplace in Mhaura as well (ex. while poster and Aelthir are taking in the marketplace, your character will enter the scene and interact with them as well)

This system might be confusing for some, but I'm sure it'll make much more sense once it's been used in application.

    One final rule:
At some point, all of you will have to have a 'first encounter' with Aelthir if you have plans to take part in his ascension (be it good or bad purposes). There is a simple requirement for this 'first encounter' post:

    - During your first encounter, you must dismiss yourself or Aelthir at the end of the post. In other words, you will meet Aelthir and say goodbye all in the same post. The reason for doing this is so that Aelthir does not remain in someone's possession for more than that post. Keeping possession of a character for more than one post will be fine in the future, however, for the 'first encounter' posts to run smoothly, I ask that all of you dismiss Aelthir promptly from your scene at the end of it.

And that's all! Thanks for reading!

    --------------------------------------------

At the end of a long wooden table--frivolously polished and embroidered with extravagance--three distinguished individuals sat silently in their seats as they mindfully exchanged glances of boredom, annoyance or concern. At the head sat the lankily built Lord Theranraila, with his co-leaders Lady Ariya and Lord Dhobar waiting impatiently for their colleague to begin the meeting, the one he had some promptly called during the middle of the day. While they knew such short-notice meetings happened every now and then, and it was their obligation to duty to immediately prioritize them above their other tasks, neither Lady Ariya nor Lody Dhobar had any intention to hide their resentment for such bothersome events.

"Soooo... care to share the news, Theran?" Ariya tossed her elbows onto the table's surface. "This had better be good! I was so close to beating Reftae's record in flame-bursting until this happened!"

"You're still playing those silly games?" grumbled a nonchalant Dhobar, his words being somewhat mumbled by his indecent open-mouthed chewing. "What a waste of time."

"I don't want to hear that from a magickless glutton!" Ariya stuck her tongue out indelicately. "And you should feel ashamed; eating such extravagant food during the middle of the day. "

"Ariya, Dhobar," came Theranraila's calm and calculating tone. "If the two of you want to leave here sooner, I suggest you wait until after I finish speaking."

In agreement of being dismissed as soon as possible, Ariya and Dhobar immediately ended their quarrel, turning their chairs to face Theranraila.

"I was wondering if any of you heard any rumours circulating around your districts lately," Theranraila inquired, a hint of concern lingering in his voice.

"Rumours? What sort of rumours? Like people dying and stuff?" Dhobar asked with a smile, taking another bite into his chicken leg. "I like those kinds of rumours."

"Idiot," Ariya muttered under her breath. "People die in your district all the time. I hardly think death in Mhaura qualifies as a rumour. People 'living' on the other hand, now there's something!"

"What of you, Ariya?" Theranraila turned to his other co-leader. "I hear the streets of Verlest have been plagued with interesting tales lately."

Ariya shrugged. "Well, members from my militia tell me there seems to be an uprising in the works."

"Haha! You call that a rumour?" Dhobar laughed heartily, some bits of chicken skin flying from his mouth. "There's been like... twelve uprisings in Verlest over the past two months!"

"What are you thinking, Ariya?" Theranraila questioned further.

"While it's true there have been many uprisings in Verlest, they've been insignificant because we've been able to detain the culprits with very little difficulty," Ariya explained.

    "And this one?"

"It's been already three weeks since word spread of another uprising, but so far we have no leads," Ariya explained before slumping back in her seat, crossing her arms. "Well, it might just be a false rumour. I've already sent my Royal Guards to investigate the matter in town. If nothing comes up, I'm just going to ignore the entire thing completely."

"Well, what do you know so far?" Dhobar asked.

Ariya closed her eyes, uninterested in details. "Only that they seem to have many connections all over the city, but no one will fess up to that. Bunch of liars."

Theranraila nodded to himself. It would seem things were still in the clear, at least, for now.

    * * *

A young man gazed aimlessly through a dusty glass window as feelings of uncertainty lingered in his mind. The past three weeks had been met with relative success, although success for many was simply being alive at the end of each day. Such low standards were to be expected at this point, however. The current state of Valdeaunia didn't allow much freedom for their cause and even less options upon which to act; a plan that had been in the works for over a decade still saw many problems when it was finally put underway.

The young man pondered the possibilities for such short-comings, but every time he spared a moment to indulge in such thoughts, the same reasons kept coming back to him. He had met with very few of his supporters over the past twelve years, and while it was not completely his fault for being unable to do so, it was certainly affecting the morale of the people who risked their lives for the cause. He had decided that the first plan of action was to make personal rendezvous with the many bases around the city, hoping that would alleviate most of the doubts and at the same time, make a proper assessment of how much of the city was under his control. These things were all important, and taking these steps one day at a time was the best way to accomplish his objective; there was only one chance to get it right.

"Lord Aelthir," came a voice from behind the young man.

"What is it, Lieutenant?" he asked calmly, his face still facing the window.

"The base in Mhaura has been secured. We'll be ready to depart in a few minutes."

The young man nodded before turning half of his body toward his subordinate, light from the window illuminating some details of his face. "Thanks for your hard work."

"Permission to speak freely, my Lord?"

"What is it, Lieutenant?" Aelthir asked curiously.

"I don't think it's a good idea for you to personally make a visit to the Mhaura base," his subordinate began. "The district is littered with crime, and there are too many dangerous individuals who could endanger your life."

"Is that not the nature of this entire mission?" Aelthir responded.

    "That's..." came the softened reply.

"I appreciate your concern, Lieutenant," Aelthir began. "But this is something I have to do. There's no other option."

A slight pause followed the end of Aelthir's words before the guard lowered his head. "Understood. Please come to the entrance when you're ready."

Aelthir nodded agreeably at his subordinate's direction before turning back to face the window, hearing the door close quietly behind him.

Tosca woke up after a long night of restless sleep. She had been tossing and turning in her four-poster bed all night so that the soft, cotton covors had entangled with her legs and torso. After releasing herself from this fabric vice, she changed from her satin night gown into a sunny yellow dress. with a gold necklace.

No concert this evening ,she mused, Exellent, I need time to talk over what I saw last night with ... well, I don't know. Should I leave it? Should I report it? I think I should report it. That man may have been important and even connected to the Ferawyn Leader!

She walked down the stairway into the living/kitchin area and began to make herself a bowl of porridge. When she was finished making it, she poured it into a bowl, levetaded it to the table using level 2 magick, walked over to the table, sat down and began to eat. She had flavoured the porridge with organge, one of her favourite fruits, she found its subtle yet sweet taste quite sumptuous. After her meal was finished she washed the plate and utensils using water magick, dried them with air, put on her coat and walked out the door.

I must go and see the Leader of Estavel's battalion and report it. Where is it again? Oh yes, first right after Quentina Row.

The sun glistened down on the dreery streets of Mhaura as Marcus re-entered the town after his hunt.

"Let's see..14 rabbit pelts, 3 boars, 2 deer and a goat, not a bad haul, better go sell this stuff to Brutus, I've kept him waiting too long."

Marcus made his way through the dangerous streets with his bow around his shoulder and a large bag on the other, containing the pelts of the animals he caught today. He entered the market district and walked smugly over to a large angry looking man at a stall.

    "Your late." He grunted,

"Sorry Brutus, do you have any idea how hard it is to find a goat in the woods? You're lucky you're getting one at all" Marcus sharply replied.

"Yeah yeah yeah, I thought it wouldn't be a problem for a great hunter like yourself" He gested.

The two jokingly talked for awhile.

Jacen walked through the crowded streets of Mhaura, surveying the environment. He noticed a little girl about 7 or 8 years old holding a sign that read "Potions needed". Some of the letters were backwards but Jacen could still read it. He also noticed that the girl was standing next to a sick old man. Jacen slowly walked over to the girl and crouched down to speak with her.

"Do you need potions?" He asked with a friendly smile.

"Yes, but I don't have any money" Said the little girl.

"It's okay, these potions are free." Said Jacen as he handed her two small bottles filled with a red liquid that could heal minor aflictions. Suddenly, the old man spoke.

"You are a very kind young man. You shall be rewarded with blessings." He said softly.

Jacen smiled. "Thank you, and have a nice day." He said as a turned and walked away.

Rami sat crouched on a rooftop staring over the market center of Mhuara district, surveying the crowd looking over people. He stared down at food stands and thought to himself of how he had yet to eat for the day. He watched a young archer sell skins, an boy run through the crowd being chased by a shop owner. Suddenly a scene caught his eye, a young man in his mid teens walking through the crowd. He walked through the crowd, almost blended into them, except for the group of men following on all sides of him. He sized up the men from the roof, they carried weapons close and he could see them surveying the crowd.

Rami started at this with intrigue. He quickly climbed from the roof overlooking the market and blended into the crowd as another citizen. He slithered his way through, trying to keep the young boy in view, and trying not to be bothered by vendors. He was soon immersed by people and lost sight of the young man in the crowd. Rami stood there for a few seconds, and stared off to the distance at where the boy was not long before. He turned and walked slowly away grabbing a piece of fruit from an unsuspecting vendor blended back into the crowd.

    (done with character.)

"There's blood on this one.." Brutus said in a shocked tone

"Well it did come from the flesh of a live animal, a thing filled with blood, just wash the thing, I don't have time to or the resources" Marcus replied.

"You know you'd get more if these things were in better quality?" Brutus said as he hung up the pelts.

"Well I kill enough to live, when I feel like being rich I'll change the past and be born into a no-"he was cut off by a small child bumping into his left leg.

"Ouch...Uh sorry mistah! Gotta run" The kid energetically said.

As he tried to run off he was stopped in his tracks, his cloak caught on something, the glove worn on the hand of Marcus, he was grabbing the kid and lifted him up with one arm to eye level.

    "Give it" Marcus said

"Whaaat? I don't gots nothing." the boy

"You filthy little thief you took my hunting knife when you hit the pouch it's in on my left leg, now give it back before i take an arrow from my quiver and give you some scars you can tell you kids about, and if you don't give it after that i'll make it so the first part can't even happen. If you catch my drift" Marcus said with a devious tone in his voice

"Fiiiiiine, man all i wanted wa ssomething to sell, but i'll give back your dumb knife" The kid whined as he took the knife previously owned to Marcus from his pocket and handed it back

"Now scram!" Marcus dropped the kid as he finished the sentence.

    "You ok Marcus?" Brutus questioned.

"Yeah, little thief punks get younger and younger, i'm disgraced to have a father killed by those sneaky bastards. I better go, before another one comes along and I can't keep my cool." Marcus answered

"Yeah alright, I'll send someone over with the next pelt lot I need to you place like usual" Brutus said as Marcus walked away placing a bag of money in his carrier pouch.

Kain was sitting at a table at a Hunter's club, taking some time off before going after the Bounty of the day. It was a pretty tranquil day, since no one tried to break the peace like they normally do, so Kain was losing his enthusiasm to go after a new Bounty.

"Well, if I kept doing this, I'd never get anything done, would I?"

He sighed and grudgingly lifted himself from his chair, stretched his arms and picked up his rifle off the side of the table. He put the buckle on and walked towards a wall full of wanted posters. He looked carefully at the posters with his hand on his chin and searched for the easiest Bounty with a descent price.

"Well, there's a man who would'nt pay for his food at a tavern, worth 200.....Then there's a suspected weapons smuggler for 2800....And then there's a man wanted for selling overly-priced faux jewelry for 900. Well, smuggler's usually have a lot of men to back them up, so I would'nt want to get myself in that kind of hassle. And a 'dine n' dasher' just isn't worth my time to catch."

He stood there looking at the 3 posters then nodded. He stretched his hand out to the wall and pulled out the one for the fake jewelry seller. He looked at the criminal's profile carefully and grinned. His name was Estoc Granadiere. he goes across different towns wearing disguises and sells fake merchandise to unsuspecting travellers.

"It says here that he was reported just the other day, so chances are that he's still in Mhaura. If I hurry up and ask around, I just might find him by the end of this afternoon."

At that, he put the poster in his coat's pocket and walked out of the lodge with a content look on his face.

Marcus sat on the edge of his building swinging his legs off the edge and widdling arrow shafts.

"Man, somedays I wish I had some other hunters to talk to, I feel like I'm the only one in this place." He sighed, and looked out over the abysmal city landscape viewing all it's inhabitants.
"Hmm...That dude looks pretty odd, he stands out alot more than the others....he's cleaner, mweh, must be lost. He'll get robbed soon enough" Marcus commented.

He continued to make new arrows from atop his roof.

"And that's all you saw and did?" The batallion leader asked as he shuffled some parchments on his desk.

"Yer sir", Tosca replied, she had put it all in there, even the magick incident.

"That magick you used may have been stronger than you think", the Captian said,"I'm no expert Element Mage but I think that when the elements combined, they also comboned streangths, how long do you usually use Water Magick a day, on avarage?"

"For as long as a concert lasts, I do know that you were at my last one in this district, the one where I did the aria from-",

"The Pointless Precaution, I know. I always had a soft spot for... anyway so that is roughly... 3 and a half hours?" He inquired.

"Yes and the same for air magick. That means that is they combined forces and streangths as you predict then those assassins were defrosted around... 2 hours ago?"

"Not exactly, I will need an expert to check but, I think that when two elements combine their streangth is added and then multiplied by the amout of elements used", he explained.

"That would mean that they were frozen for 12 hours, then they're-",

"Still frozen, yes but I will need an expert to check".

"O.K it that all you need me for?"

"Yes, you are free to go, would you like to be updated with news if we catch them?"

"Yes please, I do hope they get the full penalty",

"That's fine, any plans for this afternoon, Ms Naryne?"

"I'll be going into the market, I need to get some new music sheets, also I need eggs."

"O.K.", said the captain, be safe.

Tosca got up from her chair on the opposite side of the desk from the Captain, walked throgh the door and out into the street.

I really must go into Mhaura today, I shall buy some things for to give to people and I should also take advantage of the cheap prices!

After buying groceries and music and dropping them off at her house. She walked into Mhaura. She looked sadly around at the delapidated houses and thoughtthat she was so very lucky to have a good enough house to live in.

While walking around, giving out gifts and buying cheaply made ornaments, she saw a young man, about twenty with light coloured skin and wavey, mousy brown hair, a lot like her own. She walked up to him.

"Do I know you, you look perculiarly farmiliar?"

"No, ma'am but I know of you."

    "Trust me darling, many do"

"Well... err... any concerts coming up?"

"Not in the forseeable future but hey, there could be one tomorrow, who knows what fate decides."

    "Yeah, like me...",

    "What?"

"Oh nothing, nothing", said the man, "Goodday to you"

"Bye" said Tosca, As he walked away.

That man puzzled her all the way home. He seemed so farmiliar and yet... something was different. She decided that she could not solve the mystery and so, continued on her way home.

I have so much music to learn !

Jacen was in the Estavel district now. He was walking through the streets with his hood up, making his trip home. He was about 30 meters away from his home when he was approached by a young man a few years younger than him.

"Are you an alchemist?" the young man asked.

"Yes I am. Is there something you need?" asked Jacen.

"I was wondering if you had any strong potions." Said the young man.

"I don't have any right now, but I can have some by tomorrow morning." He said.

"Okay then, I'll meet you here tomorrow morning." The young man started to walk away but then he turned back around to face Jacen."Bye the way, my name is Laryth Varlas." he said.

"Nice to meet you Laryth, I'm Jacen." He said as he streched out his arm to shake hands. Aelthir shook his hand and smiled, then he turned and leaft. After that, Jacen went home and got to work on the potions.

Marcus was walking through the streets clearing his heads of all thoughts and ignoring the world around him, all of a sudden his thoughts were stopped as he crashed into a man, knocking them both onto the ground.

"****, I'm sorry, I wasn't paying much attention" Marcus apologised

"It's quite alright, I too wasn't looking where I was going." The man said in return

"Crap, My arrows all spilled out" Marcus complained, "I hate when this happens."

"Oh, allow me to help" the man offered, "I did cause it after all"

"Thanks, the name's Marcus, I'm an archer hunter, I've been in Maurah all my life and you don't look too familiar, what's your name if you don't mind me asking?" Marcus questioned.

"Oh, I'm not really from around here, my name's Aelthir, pleasure to meet you" Aelthir said, "Here's the last arrow...what's this engraving on the bottom of the arrow, 'A'"

"Oh, it's my last initial, my name's Marcus Angel, I mark the bottoms with an A so if i'm ever out hunting with another archer and we both aim for the same kill we'll know who got him, not that I have an archer ally at the moment but you never know." Marcus said half-heartedly.

"That's rather clever, well, I must be off, I have matters to attend to, It was nice to meet you Marcus." Aelthir proclaimed as he ran off.

    "Yeah....see ya." Marcus said softly.

As the sunrise rose, Maddie was fiddling with her daggers, she gave a tiny smile. "hmm... what will today bring," She said to herself. She wanted something to fill her stomach. Maddie jumped down from a 2 story building and entered to an open door. There was a wooden table that had been wrecked with slash marks all over on the legs of the table. On the table there was bread that was half eaten with a bit of dust on it. Maddie needed to eat so she gently blew the dust off the bread and took it.

She left the house and jumped back on the roof. There was a beautiful light breeze coming her way so she wanted to enjoy it by letting her hair loose and flow along the wind. Resting on the ledge of the house she was thinking what she was going to do today. She wanted to let loose and walk around the streets.

After she had finished every piece of the bread she heard someone call for her. She reacted quickly and stood up.
    "who's there?" She called.
No one answered. Maddie started to get a a little dizzy and passed out. Maddie was having another flashback of her mother. She sees herself as a small young girl in pig tails holding on to her stuffed animal bear. The little girl watches her mother as the man grabs her mom by the hair and she started to scream loudly.
"MOMMY NOOO!" Little Maddie called as she was crying severly. She ran to the man and started beating his leg but the man kicked her out of the way. Before Maddie could get up again..... she saw a knife slit her mother's throat as blood started rushing out. Her screaming had stopped and no movement from her at all. The man let of her mother and as her dead body fell to the floor, he started to walk to Maddie. Maddie didn't noticed the man because she was watching her mom... lying still on the floor.
"Mommy?" She said quietly with her eyes wide and still. More water started to come out of her eyes. Then the man grabbed her right arm. He took the knife that he used to kill her mom and carved a heart on her wrist.
"Maddie, you will have this scar for the rest of your life... so you can know what happened to you mom.." He snickered. Maddie was screaming in pain and crying her heart out. The man dropped her arm and walked away.

Meanwhile the older Maddie had watched everything again. This time.. she knew what the man's voice was.

She woke up... she wasn't on the roof anymore... but in someone's arms.
"oh you're awake," The person's voice said. " Are you alright?"
Maddie rubbed her eyes and noticed that she was crying... "Yeah. I'm alright" She said to the man.

Alish had dropped off some drunkard to the prisons for interrogating in some gambling affair against some Noble girl who had been swindled. The man had seemed more like he also could have been taken advantage of, but the matter was out of Alish's hands. Many did not want to frequent the poor areas of the region, since at times their lives might just be forfeit to the many assassins down there, but Alish had grown up there and knew mostly how to avoid trouble. The goal was to be more bad than the bad.

His work for now was done and so he headed to the room of his assignment and cleaned up, shaved and clothed himself in his 'downtime' clothing, which was not much different than his Knightly garments. Black pants, black buckle boots, black hardened leather armor with ringlets down it, and now a worn black cloak. It was obvious this must be his favorite color, though why certainly wasn't because some people believed it was evil. He was not an evil young man in the least, though he was hardened by the way the years of his life had went.

He moved out into the streets, heading down to the market area to browse through things and of course to keep a watch out for thieves. He may be off duty technically, but a Knight's job was 24 hours a day all the time in his mind. Estavel was busy at this time of day and he stopped by a fruit stand and paid for an apple, and began consuming it as he walked. The day was like any other and he mulled over very little as he hated to keep his mind clogged with useless thoughts.

Arleck wakes up finding himself in the filthy, compact wagon the caravan has been pulling for days. The caravan arrives at Valdeaunia. Arleck couldn't believe his eyes on what he's seeing before him. He hears a sort of ruckus between the leader of the caravan and a horseman.

"I say we go over the gate!" The horseman said.

"Go over it!? That doesn't make sense at all! We need a way to get pass those guards without them noticing all these smuggled goods!" replied the leader.

Arleck, who was surprised to hear not only that this caravan aren't just bad company, but as well as the guards guarding Valdeaunia. He thought of a plan that would let the caravan pass the guards and avoid the suspicion of him being in there.

"Um, excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt your argument, but I have a plan."

"Uhhhh...what do you have in mind?"

"I was thinking... we let this caravan up for a spin."

"WHAT!? You my horses and my wheels to dash through!? That would destroy my entire caravan and we might get arrested for doing some kind of wretched thing like that!"

    "It's worth a try"

"Hmph! Alright, but if this fails, I'm blaming this all on you"

The leader commanded all of his drivers to go full throttle. With the sound of raging cries of the horsemen, the caravan dashed through the rough terrain and onto the entrance of Valdeaunia. Arleck, holding with his might waited for the right time to jump. Arleck's plan was a success… but not for long. The caravan did past the guards, but it collided with most of them, causing most of the wagons to go off course and crash into one another. For some of the riders including the leader, they were able to survive and head on full throttle but ended up in Estavel, instead in Mhaura where they were to meet their dealer. Arleck, who miraculously survived the crash, was able to escape into the alleys of Mhaura, hiding from unwanted suspicion from the incident that just occurred.
