No Thanks User Notes

To which I just have to ask, why is it necessary? Just leave a profile comment, or use a personal conversation.

 

I didn't like it, I don't want it and I am against it.

 

Because there's demand for it, there's permissions which allows for staff notes or premium notes, and, as What pointed out, it allows for conversations.

 

So recovering the old stuff isn't possible? As in, it'd take days and could be harmful and would set the forum back in time to when we first moved?

I wanted them back because a lot of people wanted their notes for nostalgia reasons (since back in the day they worked like profile comments) but to me that was it.

 

But isn't that the reason we got VMs back whenever they got updated into vBulletin? To eliminate the hassle of trying to create a conversation through seperate not pages?

I mean, theres about three or so ways to talk to someone on the forum, not including the various ways off site. Is there really a want for more ways to communicate with someone? I've only heard people wanting the old user notes to come back, not to install and use the feature anew wise.

 

I don't know. Either I wasn't around for that or I wasn't involved that much in that aspect of the forum at the time.

 

We wouldn't use the staff features of it, as we have our own system for recording such information. Then it's down to conversations between you & other members, which can already be achieved through personal conversations & profile comments. It just feels like a bit of a redundant feature--user notes, after all, pretty much stopped being used when visitor messages appeared on vB.

Not exactly, but essentially all you need to know is that we cannot recover the old stuff.

 

At the very least, it could be a perk for Premiums or Nobles?

 

Seems a little bit of a strange reward to give to some members and not all. I also don't see the incentive behind people aiming for Prem because they want to use User Notes.

It seems quite a defunct feature if it was used today.

 

It's something. And I can continue searching for more mods if this one doesn't make the cut.

 

If there's absolutely no way to get old ones back, then I'm against this. It seems like a pretty useless feature considering the other methods we have to talk to each other. Doesn't have too many mods hurt the site?

 

I happen to agree here. I wanted the old user notes back. I'd be willing to see the site go down for a whole week or even a month and lose everything made so far on the new site to see them come back but that's not fair to the many others that wouldn't care to see that happen and the people who don't feel the need to do a bunch of work all over again. So it's not happening. I'll rock the crying avatar for another year or so or however long it takes me to get over it but in the meantime I don't feel we need a pale facsimile of function when the pertinent part was the history.

 

Not directly, but they can conflict with each other, it can make updating to new releases a pain, etc.
