I honestly don't if people swear to be honest, not even in songs. The only problem I would have with it is if they had to swear every sentence, like "fucking girlfriend has to break my fucking heart and I can't fucking stand it" I think I would just be better off with "Fucking girlfriend has to break my heart and I can't stand it" while I do find music these days annoying, I have to say that swearing is something I really don't care about oh and by the way:
    fuck

Are you trying to claim that Mr.Manson is unintelligent?

Because he's one of the most intelligent people I've come across.

    Swear Words in songs

I don't mind them at all, but its just that a lot of songs that are out now they curse for no reason. They say so much of nothing a curse would actual give it even less of a meaning its just put there to be put there. But other songs such as this...

At the very start of the song they say fucking at the start of the song. Too bad the lyrical content and just the flow of Slaughterhouse is insane they are nasty with it.

But a song such as this...

God its so f*cking annoying, but anyways people listen to dumb shit and make a dance to it, and nothing is said. See what I mean they curse and its just to curse that's it nothing really good about that song.

But with Slaughterhouse they don't have to curse a lot to get the song going along. Not to say all rappers that curse a lot suck at what they do cause there's a sh*t load of songs where they curse a lot, but it still is a good song.

They don't curse a lot in this song, just showing there are explicit lyrics in this song, but they are cwazy with it.

As many people have said, i dont have a problem with it unless its used excessively. Swear words, like any other words, are used to convey emotion. Without swearing, the song loses its intended emotional intensity.

Good example is Eminem. Listen to any of his songs. Cleaning Out My Closet is one of the most emotionally driven songs ive ever heard from him, and the swear words emphasise the emotion he is trying to express. There are censored versions that just cut out every swear, and those versions are silent literally every few beats. It sounds stupid. Eminem is one of those artists who wants to be able to show so much fury, so much sadness, so much emotion in a 4 or 5 minute song. Of course he's gonna use a swear word every now and then.

Another example is Maroon 5's Payphone. Now, i hate this song (for my own reasons), but without the swears it would lose the intensity it had. 'All those fairytales are full of sh*t, One more f*cking love song Ill be sick.' its actually necessary. Compared to the censored version, this is a great expression of emotion. Now as someone who doesnt like this song, the swear words make the emotion more...real.

I just made a good point. Heaps of people swear all the time. When theyre angry, sad, happy etc etc. Swearing is a natural expression of emotion and, in my opinion, is a necessary thing to put into a song that requires such emotional intensity.

So yeah, i think swearing is good, but should not be used excessively in songs.

I like the way you put this. I, too, believe that, if used appropriately, swear words can give the song more emotion and cause a bigger emotional effect or connection. Good job with the examples too.

Well yeah, listening to swearing in songs doesn't equate to swearing daily. But to someone actively trying to avoid it (like me), I try to avoid as best as I can so as not to be further influenced :-j
