[UPDATED WEEKLY] Monster of the Week

Akane growled and shifted her course to avoid the fireball.
"I'll do my best...but we will not be able to defeat Orochi today. Even I cannot harm him as he is. I will fight him off as best I can, he has a fear of wolves," she thundered back to Xengla. Akane lept into the air, clearing the mouth of the canyon, and rammed into what appeared to be Orochi's back, knocking him off balance.

 

Well great. If anyone had a chance to possibly make him go away, it would have been her. "I guess this place is ruined now. It's all your fault!" Xengla shouted as she fired a stream of fire at all 8 heads. Ah...shouldn't have done that. Now I'm tired...better start running now. She paused catching her breath from releasing so much energy so many times before bolting away from the are as fast as she could. She didn't even need to herd the tourists anywhere, since they all got the same idea: this place wasn't safe anymore.

 

Orochi shifted slightly on the ground. The bell on his back shook again from the motion. the two nearest heads turned to Akane and began combining their attacks, the lightning and earth heads. The lightning dropped from above Akane and the ground below shook. A deadly combo, yet avoidable as the ground shook in waves not in total and the lightning only came down in threes. With a good watch of the heads movements what they did would become predictable or at least the extent of their power was known.

After Xengla attacked, the poison head spewed it's toxic breath and slowly fading clouds of poison chased her.

 

Aww no..... Xengla thought as she looked back for a moment and saw the cloud of poison. I can hold my breath for some time, but not forever. Plus, this stuff can't be good for the eyes. Xengla pumped her legs and ran faster. There's gotta be somewhere safe! I've got a couple more seconds left! she thought, hastily looking around the area for somewhere to duck in and breathe without risk of suddenly dying.

 

The poison cloud chasing Xengla faded as she fled. Orochi had corrupted this area enough and had began creating new rocks. He recreated his fortress, the Moon Cave and was now deep inside with no way of any one getting close to him.

ROUND 7 END

I'll post the new enemy this Monday. This round gave me some new ideas.

I didn't see it in the rules, neither did I see an OC form.

I may just be blind though.

 

There is no OC form. You create one. It was in the rules or somewhere in the beginning of this thread.

 

Yeah, you have to use characters from old RPs on this site or if your using characters from games, cartoon, etc then you make up your own OC.

Anywho, this week we have something which I only just managed to beat the other day xD

Monster’s name: Phalanx
Monster’s origin: Demon’s Souls
Monster’s powers/abilities/elemental attribute: Phalanx itself is harmless as a blob of darkness. It’s danger lies in the 35 Hoplite (blob creatures that can throw spears and also stab at enemies, it also can regenerate it’s spear after being thrown and has a highly defensive shield on it’s front). Using the Hoplites numbers it covers itself in them as a shield against attack and an offence with it’s multiple spears and ability to command Hoplites to separate from the shield formation and flank enemies. It is also able to resurrect fallen Hoplites after a certain amount of time and self recover it’s own damage.
Monster’s weaknesses: Fire attacks. The Hoplites are susceptible to attacks from behind.

Location: A hillside castle (most in the main hall)

ROUND 8 START

The Phalanx pulled itself along the floor of the tourist attraction castle halls. It's appearance was sudden and strange. It moved much like a slug but also seemed to roll and tug as goo would when sliding. The demon began having it's guardian Hoplites, small goo creatures with shields and spears, kill anything in sight by spear throwing.

 

Kyle was sitting a flying Buttress on the side of the church as he watched the Blobs for a minute through a blue pane of glass on the stained window with hands in his pockets and leaning over slightly to get a better look at the creature or creatures. He was merely observing some "wolves" if they qualified as being classed as that of the natural wolf as they attacked at the small blobs. The blobs had spears and by the looks of it "They are definately sharp" Kyle thought. As he thought this, A Spear broke the stained glass inorder to make contact with his face but Kyle leaned back off the buttress and twirled to his feet onto the shingle's of the roof beneath the buttress. "Well that wasn't particularly nice now was" he said blissfully as he ran and jumped through the remains of the pane of the stained glass and grabbed one of his holstered blades and when the blob through another spear at him he increased the tempurature around his sword and cut it down the middle. As Kyle landed he attempted to kick the blob away as it defended with a shield and it stood it's ground.

 

Oh my god...that is so gross.....ugh......I hope those things aren't poisonous. Well, here we go again. Xengla thought, wrinkling her nose at the sight of the blobs. But it's so strange....it's like each individual...blob thing acts on the order of someone.......I wonder if they're flammable... she wondered as she formed a fireball in her right hand. She grinned as she unleashed a stream of fire all along the floor where most of the Hoplites or the monster itself were. However, this was just a test and Xengla did not want to be skewered by 10 sharp spears at once, so she quickly moved to a new position up off the floor. Perhaps I'll be of use this time. Unlike last time. And the time before that.

 

OOC: Daxma, people can't cut spears in two from the blade to the base. The spears can be parried, blocked or even cut in two from the side after dodging unless you have a power that can make that sort of thing possible by human physics.

BIC: A handful of the Hoplites on Phalanx and a few roaming around where killed and reduced to nothing but a shield by the explosive and burning attacks of Starrk and Xengla. The remaining few Holites that where roaming freely but controlled attached to Phalanx returned to his shield formation. Soon afterwards Phalanx began moving forward to the closest person on the ground, Starrk. It's slow movements where nothing to fear but the valley of spears started to concentrate on Phalanx's target. 15 of the Hoplites threw spears one after the other at Starrk with a small gap between each single spear. Each Hoplite attacked in turn with the odd two or three spears being launched at once. From the other side of Phalanx the remaining Hoplites launched spears at any others in the area, mostly Xengla and Kyle as they where the next closest. The remaining 31 Hoplites had covered Phalanx with their shields and combined with the spears constantly being thrown it became difficult for anyone to get close instantly.

 

OOC: so it has 35 of the spear guys, right?
BIC:
Genservant ran along the balcony of the castle, before running inside, throwing a ball of fire at the back of a Hoplite. Why do I fight these mosters again? He wondered to himself.

 

OOC: Yep, and they can be resurrected if you take too long as well. Also, you can't instantly get behind something.

BIC: The fireball launched at a Hoplite bounced off the shield of another but had damaged it through the shield. With the lot of them covering Phalanx they protected each other mostly.
On the front of Phalanx Starrk had managed to take out a single Hoplite through a momentary gap in it's defence. The sluggish movements made it hard for the creatures to turn swiftly and occasionally it opens up a chance for not having to attack through the shield. A few of the spears thrown where sticking out of the pillars nearby.
30 Hoplites remained on Phalanx. Each one now began to separate the swarms of spears into individual attacks on the four opponents. Some Hoplites disconnected in attempt to flank Genservant.

 

Genservant ducked the spears that flew at him, then he focused his power, creating a massive fire ball in his hands, "get down!" he yelled out.

OOC: I know that, but in my head, I pictured him coming in from the other direction.

 

Xengla quickly jumped down after seeing an amount of spears being thrown at her. As she landed, she extinguished the flames below her. Oh my god...I can not believe they can throw with such accuracy. Xengla thought with shock. I better start moving around. She shot another stream of fire as she ran, aiming at the "feet" of the Hoplites as much as possible.
