Traditional Art Untold Story (Cloud and Aerith)

This is a request made by Bubble Master Califa (he had a different name before.... :/).

Anyway, this is a slight newly-wed scene for Cloud and Aerith/Aeris, and it has been posted on my dA acount. Comment here or over there. Please.

they both look so real and it looks oh so ever gorgeous the only problem with your post is that I'm a guy not a 'she' .

 

I see no problems with Cloud *thumbs up*

However, on Aerith, I see two problems, both having to do with her face. Her eye is shut up o.O when someone shuts their eyes, its normaly creased down :P And her lips also bother me slightly. :/

I do adore the hair though <3333

 

Clerith~ <3 Oohh, what a lovely image. 8D Despite some few errors, this image is still really enjoyable, I really do like it.

Rosexy already pointed out the main problems, but I'll also add making Cloud's eyes slightly bigger (and increasing the masca--I mean eyelashes D^: ). This can be said for Aeris too. Also, from what I remember her lips are slighty more "pouty" looking. Here they're too thin.

Well, to me Clou's nose looks too weirdish. And his face is too small. Areith's eyes should look differant too. But think about making the lips better too.

Okay, thats understandable. I made her eye like that because I thought her face angle was proportioned that way. Guess I should've made it the other way. And the lips were a pain in the a** for both of them so I don't like them anyway. lol.

Anyway, the eyelashes were originally bigger but I changed them for detail's sake. They were just too huge for me and I like a subtler lash if you see what I mean. And like I said above, lips are evil...

Yeah, I can see the nose looking weird. It took me a while to even get it overlapped on Aeris's face. But, thanks for the comment anyway.

 

No offense taken here for the gender confusion and I really do like the hair as both Cloud's and Aerith's look precise nd perfect 9you eve added the curled side hairs to erith which was a nice touch).

Well, its gone now, and I say esteemed in a good way. Sort of like...a mega-member compliment. I'm just happy to recieve the crits.

 

Awww, kisses are so damn hard to get right - you draw two different angles at once, it quickly gets complicated. It's a pity there was no room for shoulders, because the necks get an impression that they're very long. Or that may just be me.

If you get trouble with a part of the face, like the lips, you could scribble in a different sheet of paper to practice yourself on the kiss before drawing on the actual piece. When drawing realistic, lips are very different depending on the person (part of the dna I guess), but the center of the upper lip almost always goes down like a V, just not that sharp. The the line kinda goes downwards and then up when it ends again. It sounds more complicated than it really is... >>;; Study in photos to see what I mean. Try to make the lips interact with each other more, it seems too flat than it should be.

There's something about Cloud's pose I don't like. I think it may be the neck causing it, it doesn't really face Aerith but is more turned away. I'd want to fix that, make it face the direction his head is facing.

A tip from me would be to add more shade on the skin. For realistic portraits, you end up shading surprisingly much - it will help adding the complicated shape real people have on the body. It may also help out with the eyes, nose and lips. Try it out. :3

 

The only problem I see are Cloud's lips: They look just a tad too small, or there's some detail/scanning problem that makes them not appear, but they appear to be missing just a little. That aside, it looked like it took a lot of time and effort to pull off! Very impressive!

 

I really should've thought of that in the first place....DX

Anyway, you're right. Scribbling before doing the actual thing could really help me out. And I knew about the v-thing; I guess I just decided not to do it in the end.

And about Cloud's pose.... I blame the neck. I really need to change his neck and maybe it would look better.

Alright! Shady portraits it is!!! (Trust me, I usually shade like crazy, but I didn't feel like messing with it this time around. Oops.)
