Whats the best video editing software? I really like to know, because I am stuck on Windows Movie Maker again =\ I keep using the trials, but I need to know which is the best one? or the most popular...

I like Sony Vegas, but it is very expensive, well over 100 dollars. It's very much worth it though.

If you have loads of dedication, persistence, and perseverance, you can make good movies in Windows Movie Maker. Obviously though, it'll be lacking in the technical aspect.

Most editors stick to Sony Vegas, because it's really easy to learn and edit with, as well as having loads of effects and transitions which you can customize, as well as HD rendering. Costs range from around $55 to $550, and the more expensive, the more features you get. Its highly recommended to get a version with masking.

I've yet to see videos made with Final Cut Studio, but I've used it before, and its quite similar to Sony Vegas, though its only available for Apple computers I believe. It comes in a pack with other Final Cut products that all together come to a price of $1,200 or so.

I use Sony Vegas now, but when WMM died on me I got Pinnacle Studio it's pretty simple, not a lot of effects though.

I use pinnacle studio 11 (trying to get 12 ultimate) because it does everything that Vegas does (except masking) without the ridiculous pricing. Since I don't know if I'll want to do this for the rest of my life $500 is a riduculous amount of money to spend on a hobby I don't have time to do very often.

I don't think Pinnacle is that expensive. It always depends on the version you get and where you buy it. I would check Amazon: I bought Vegas off of there, and got something like a hundred fifty dollars off.

Vegas is nice but it has some trouble with certain file formats. Otherwise, it's great. Alternatives include Adobe Premiere, Avid, etc. but I've never used them.

I have used WMM and Vegas, but I VASTLY prefer Vegas. It's a little counter-intuitive, and to get the best use out of it, you should watch tutorials, but if you can scrape together the money (or get a friend or family member to get it for you), it can REALLY come in handy. I got mine from a friend, so I got lucky there. WMM can be good, but you really have to know how to use http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net <<(Link) to get the best effects. Even then, it freezes to often for me, especially for longer videos (anything over 1 minute, lol)

I use Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 and it works perfectly. If you are a hardcore video editor and you are looking for some serious, insane effects i recommend:

    -Final Cut Pro(Expensive=100$-200$)
    -Adobe Premiere(about $100)
    -After Effects($400 O_o)

Which editor you should get really depends on how dedicated you are to editing. If you're REALLY into it, getting something like Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro or the like is a good idea. If you only do editing as a pastime once every now and then and don't devote a lot of your time to it, I wouldn't bother buying a top-notch program, because they tend to be expensive.
