I came home from school today, turned on my laptop, and found a line of what I think was dead pixels on the left corner of the screen, about two inches long. Because I'm poor I usually take good care of my electronics, because I know this is the only one you'll be getting for the next 5+ years cassie so treat it right

Having only just bought my laptop before the new year, I was understandably upset. i got in touch with HP (yeah it's an HP suck it it's good) and they said they'd fix it for free, so they dispatched shipping boxes to me and said once I send it it'll be 7 - 9 days. I was kind of bummed because I use the laptop for school and being without it for that long would be a major inconvenience, but I figured I should fix it while it was free.

However, I read an online remedy that basically said to massage the pixels on the screen, which made it better, but there was still a lot of schmutz and I figured let me fix it while it's free instead of waiting

over the past few hours it's gradually disappeared to the point where it's almost not even there anymore

but i don't know if I should send it in for repairs to get rid of the little bit and hope they'll replace the screen so it'll never happen again

or just keep it and take my chances

    what do khv

It's free so I think sending it in could work

I would send it in and just deal with the inconvenience. It's better to be sure the problem will be gone than have it come up again in the future where it's either not free or some other complication makes it more difficult to fix.

also, how did you massage the pixels?

I turned on my psp the other day and noticed one little splotch of or white pixels that had never been there before, and I looked up how to fix it and one of the said remedies was to massage it. I tired it and didn't work, and I don't really want to buy a new lcd.
I'm thinking it didn't work because I wasn't touching the screen itself? but that sounds dangerous so i dont know.

I wrapped my finger in a cloth (to avoid scratches) and basically pressured the screen, moving in a circular motion. I was worried it might damage the screen but this was after HP said they'd fix it so I figured I didn't have much to lose. It worked a bit at first but as a few hours have gone by they're gradually disappeared. So maybe just give it some time.

It would be safer to send it in for repairs. Since you use it for school, it would be a better chance of it not happening again in the future. :)
You could let them know that the pixels are clearing a bit, but you would still like to repair it for future's sake.
Also, because it is a newer laptop, I find it a little odd that it is having tech problems so soon. :/
A checkup may just be what it needs.

    ^-^

@everyone: yeah, it is free, I'm just worrying that the problem might be gone by the time it gets to them? lol
I'm good with computers (that sounds braggy? it's not meant to be but I genuinely am, took three years of classes in high school & could have taken two industry certification exams) so it all runs fine, it's just screens are delicate. I wasn't doing anything weird with it (dropping it or anything), it was in my backpack and in my car but in both places it's fairly cushioned so idk what happened really

better safe than sorry i suppose

    Get a Mac bi-*shot*

I would send it in to be safe. Being a perfectionist at heart, it would ease my mind knowing the top guns did it properly for free rather than hoping I fixed it indefinitely.

I strongly recommend you to take it to repairs. Same thing happened to me but I brushed it off because it wasn't even that big but one time all I did was open it and it took almost 85% of the laptop screen.

The PSP has a glass cover over it's screen so I don't see how you could be massaging the pixels o.O

Its a sign that its going out but probably wont for a good while. They disappear over time and fixes itself. It happened to my DSi. A pixel turned blue. Did the pixel change color or just black?
