argh, this is so confusing. I read it and it looks to me like the government is trying to take control. I'm really starting to get confused

... What? Why would the government want to force people to have Christian funerals?

I don't know. Governments can be very stupid....although, so can churches as well. Heck, take the medeival period or even later and we know what I mean. Either way, government or church, neither one should be deciding what the other does for a funeral

What's there to really say about this? If the Soldier is a Christian, then they will probably have a Christian Funeral arranged, and if they are not then there's no reason to impose it as it would just cause administrative aggro. I sure wouldn't want it to be forced that my funeral be Christian, I don't want my immortal soul anywhere near that "God". The article also appears to be ignoring current laws as well, but hey, it's Texas politicians here. We can't expect a lot of sense out of them, especially when they're throwing around the word "Liberal" like it's a blight upon their fair country.

Texas lawmakers . . . Way to go guys, I figured they would pull something like this out of their asses. Just like how Rick Perry wants to be rid of the 17th and 16th amendments, and ban gay marriage all over the nation.

For Christian soldiers, I can see where this would help, but don't they do that anyway? And as for the other soldiers who aren't Christian, there's no legit reason, at least of what I see, to impose such a thing they don't believe in, that's just not right. Not everyone in the world is a Christian, and it's not fair to those who aren't to have those wordings in their funerals. It seems to dishonor them somehow.

Then again, I could have no idea what I'm talking about.

    Wow. Just, wow.
I haven't read many other replies, but, this just seems like the "stereotypical Christian" thing to do.

People really need to, as I would say in 0% seriousness, "Lrn2LrnThatChristianIsn'ttheOnlyReligion"

They really should leave it to teh family.
I myself, am atheist, and I kinda dislike it when, in school, or anywhere else, the teacher is all "Blah blah blah God" or, "Jesus blahblahblah Christian thing to do"
    /mild rant
