It's pretty stupid honestly, unless you are a celebrity there isn't really that much of a purpose. Why should people care about you tweeting about your latest tweet? But people can do whatever they want of course, it's their choice how they wanna spend their time.

I don't really think you can compare Facebook and Twitter.

Twitter is a microblog. It's just the same as a blog, only smaller. It allows me to keep up with what people are doing on the go (like if a new post has come up on a webcomic I follow for example).

Facebook on the other hand, is a social network. It allows you to play games, chat, and keep up with your friends in a more long term manner.

I feel that they are completely different and I use both for different reasons.

I don't get what twitter's supposed to be either...
I use FB a lot mainly to keep in touch with friends, I don't understand the whole layout twitter has, you follow people to be followed?
    Stalking much?

Anyway if anyone could explain what twitter is better, it'd be greatly appreciated ^^

    EDIT: Besides what Clawtooth said.

I actually have my twitter connected to my Tumblr so whatever I type and update it goes on the news feed of my twitter. lol I have people on my twitter and it shows up on my Tumblr. I'm lazy to actually go on the site myself but it's somewhat convenient. LOL it's not like "OMG I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT TWITTER" it's just there

    Tumblr is better.
But eh, I guess it depends on what you've grown to use.

Yeah, I've had one for over a year now and have rarely posted. I mostly use it to keep up with my favorite bands and television shows. Meh, I may start posting on it now.

Nah, I hate Twitter (except for the KH one, of course XD). To be honest, I really don't have anything intresting to actually post on there if I had a Twitter. My life's plain - it's normal. Do you really think I'd post "Got up. Ate. Went back to bed. Played with my mobile phone, texting friends."? (That's just an example, I don't do that, plus I don't have a mobile phone) Same with Facebook. I don't really like social networking sites - KH-Vids is good enough for me. =] End of so-called rant.

I'm a big social networker. I use Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. I never really saw the appeal in Twitter until I got a smartphone with a Twitter app. At home posting on Twitter is largely pointless, not much happens at home that is of interest. But on the go I often find little things to say or rant about, like "These little twats dancing in the street are annoying" or somehing.

I like Tumblr but unfortunately it's become Livejournal 2.0 with annoying 14 year old emo hipsters. Still I avoid following people like that.

I think Twitter mainly feeds into the texting trend of people. I mean, people (especially teens) are always sending thousands of texts. Most of the time they're texts to people who you were just with two minutes ago. I personally find Twitter pretty pointless because I still have an oldschool flip phone, I have facebook/myspace, and I don't think people need to know every little detail about my life (though I'm sure my mother would enjoy that ^^). Celeb/band showings, news feed, etc. seem like appropriate content to Tweet about, but not all the mundane stuff.

I find Facebook pointless, Twitter and MySpace are the only sites I find useful I guess.

I gained 60 followers in one day because Katy Perry replied to me.

It was funny. I use it as a medium to celeb-stalk. You finally know from their mouth (usually) when videos, singles, albums, etc are out and what gossip is a load of tosh and also learn a bit about them too sometimes. Like when they're at a gig and you like that artists too. That's cool.

as for self-tweeting I don't bother much. But I do know the tricks and trade of getting responses off slightly famous people. Hashtags and timing is everything along with a good interesting topic in under 180 characters. It's a fun art.

Twitter is a better promotional/marketing tool than facebook or myspace and is for people who actually have something to share, be it music, art, videos, news, etc. It's not for your average joe. Trending Topics and retweets are a very easy and efficient way of seeing how popular whatever your pushing is among your followers, or in certain regions, or in the entire world.
