I am about halfway through the 3rd book now and I am getting quite nervous =/ There is so much unresolved and I don't know how it can all be done >__< ​

As you put it "IT" would kill Bella, all of the body fluids are replaced by venom. Pulse all organs freeze. This is just speculations, and educated guesses, based on the book this is what I gather. This probably has something to do with Edwards’s views in the third book to.
