Twilight Series [General Discussion Thread]

Yeah, Jacob's chapter titles were just awesome, and most of them made me laugh!

 

'Shiny' is a cool title chapter XD but 'Waiting for the damn fight to start already' beats it! You gotta love Jacob's epic titles.

 

I loved Jacob. He was probably my favorite character. =) I loved having his pov in the story, and of course...I loved his chapter titles. They made me laugh. Like Chapter 9: "Sure as hell didn't see that one coming." And Chapter 10: "Why didn't I just walk away? Oh right, because I'm an idiot." There was one that was pretty clever, the one with the Wizard of Oz. "What do I look like? The Wizard of Oz? You need a brain? You need a heart? Go ahead. Take mine. Take everything I have."

Just finished the book, unfortunately. Now I have to wait for the movie.... I would've liked a better ending, though. It kinda felt fast-paced.

 

Agreed, dude.. the end of Eclipse.. I went CRAZY because of the ending. But after reading the ending of BD I was like... "Yeah... what am I like.. not freaking about this?"

I just wanted it to continue! I thought it ended too suddenly.

I saw "the end" and I just started at it thinking "What...? No, it can't be over now! I want more Edward! DX"

 

I know right?!

But I'm shocked.. I didn't freak out as much.. but I do want more Edward... she can't leave us hanging like that...she has to make more...

the ending left nothing to the imagination... i want to see how midnight sun will connect with the story of breaking dawn... how do you think the cover art will be? i think it might be oppiside of breaking dawn....

 

I don't know about the opposite of Breaking Dawn, because I was thinking the queen piece was representing Bella, while the pawn was representing Renesmee. But that is just me.

 

That's a good idea. I've been mulling over the cover forever! My first idea was that it was connected to Edward and Alice's chess games. Then I thought that it was symbolism for the whole series; it is all like a chess game if you think about it.

 

Well, I don't know how to play chess, so I will just stick to my theory of Renesmee and Bella! lol

it does make sense though... every turn made them have to think of a way to defeat their enemies as well as getting their own goal. so that works with it being like the whole series wrapped up. but i still think there is something that the queen and red pawn means. it being Bella and Renesmee makes sense in one way. ^^.. hmm

Do you think Bella is perhaps... pathetic? My best friend let me borrow her books last Tuesday, and I've read the first two within five days. She thinks Bella is pathetic, how she had that zombie state without Edward, and that she's annoying for needing him so much.
Now, maybe this is just on my personal life account, but I don't really think so...I could kind of relate to Bella. If my girlfriend were to take off and leave for God knows how long, I would be just like Bella. It's just because I love her so much. But Stephanie (my bff) on the other hand, thinks that it doesn't work that way...she's dated around a lot, though, and I've never really seen her fall for someone...I mean, though she's done the whole "I love you" thing with them, she was always looking at other guys/girls while she was dating someone.
Or maybe I'm pathetic, too?
I don't know...what do you guys think?

 

Hi, I got Breaking Dawn yesterday from my friend in exchange for my Latin homework. I read it that day, and it was great! I have but one question; chronologically, where does Midnight sun take place? Is it after Breaking Dawn, or is it just Edward's point of view of the story?

About the cover. I feel it is representing Bella and Nessie. It certainly does not make sense in chess terms, because while Bella may have been a queen in the final battle, Renesmee was not a pawn. If anything, she was the king! So I think chess symbolism can be left well alone.

No, I would say that Bella is an oddity, or perhaps your friend just hasn't found that sort of person yet.

 

Hmm.... Interesting thought. I never really thought of Bella that way, just because I liked her so much in the books.

She's not really...pathetic. She's more...depressed than anything. I mean, the boy she fell head over heels for has just left her without a word or explanation. Wouldn't you feel that way too if the one person you loved most in the world went off and (sort of) abandoned you like that? Her feelings and actions are understandable. Atleast she had Jacob there for support. (Agh, I love that boy so much.)

The whole "saying 'I love you' when you don't really mean it" stage is normal. A lot of people do it. If your friend was looking at other people, she obviously hasn't found the right person. Bella, on the other hand, found the person she wanted to be with most in the world and felt completely terrible when he left without a real reason. I'd be the same way, going to my best friend for support throughout it all.

 

Midnight Sun is just Twilight from Edward's sexy point of view =^^=

Like I said, I think the cover of Breaking Dawn represents the series as a whole. If you really think about it, the saga has been like a big chess game.
