now, I must say, I prefer stephenie meyers style alot better.
It really depends on the author itself, I think. Stephenie has obviously written her novels, aiming it at a teenage audience. The authors are both writing about vampires, I persume, and both are writing a horror/thriller. But sometimes it isn't the content you must focus on; its the storyline and audience you must look at in detail.
Does the writing fit the audience/purpose?
for both authors it does, therefor they are both talented in my books.

Nope. Cross is not a vampire story, and only has elements of horror and thriller. Those excerpts I posted are rather parallel, the stories they belong to are not. Granted, you couldn't know this. Thanks for your posting your opinion by the way.

I think that Stephanie Meyer's writing style suits me better. I read mostly for entertainment and fluff. I leave any deep thought or reflection for poetry or short stories. I can appreciate abstract or descriptive writing, but for the most part I would prefer a more straight-forward writing for entertainment reading.

I think that super fans come from people who make a big deal out of things for attention. If they cry and scream about a book or how hot and in love they are about Edward, they get more attention. Maybe they've even bought into their own joke and believe they are in love with Edward. Heck, I once fell into that trap, where I thought this one character from an anime was really hot (i think it was sasuke?) and for a joke I told my friends I loved him and later actually kinda believed that I did. What a weird world.

bad taste or not, I liked that post lol

Wow for a second I thought that was age! I thought "damn that's an articulate 8 year old!", then I noticed Meyer said 15 and I realized what you meant lol

I prefer Meyer, simply because it's, well, simple. I don't mean that it's dumbed down enough for me to understand. I would prefer Styx's if I got to read the whole story. Meyer kept it simple and i was able to understand the beginning and get a visual image of what was going on.

If Styx's writing started out like Meyer's, or just something to give me a good understanding of the character's image, surrounds, etc.- then went to the poetic way she (I'm assuming your a she and that Eve whatever is a pseudonym) wrote that exerpt, I'd probably enjoy "Cross" better.

And btw Styx, is that story typed or written? I wouldn't mind being able to read it

    uhmm
    no haha xD

It's 'Midnight Sun' and she canceled it because she let someone she trusted read the rough draft of it, and they posted it online. it's on her page and she announced she isn't going to finish it, but it's a possibility that she might.

Eclipse. Best book out of the whole series, no doubt. It was epic because of all the tribe stories & Jasper's past.

Very smart ranting. You have all your points with good info attached to it. You should make a court case! :D
But your right, Twilight was an unrealistic book. Besides, the way they made vampires was a bit...unrealistic.
Diamond skin? No, their skin is just supposed to be dead.
Their powers? Vampires are just vampires, fast, deadly at night and getting weaker in the sun. They don't show themselves because of diamond skin? I think the right word for it was they become weaker and they start hissing. Thats what I read in this dracula based story comic thing.
Alot of things are not the same, but like I said in the thread, Twilight suuccksss, Stephanie Meyer brought change into the story. Thats why people don't like it. Girls do, especially since Jacob, Edward, and other guys represent to them, "Man of their dreams".

I remain neutral, both are nicely done. Though Eve is more of an intelligent read, and a catchy one at that, Meyer is for a smooth, and interesting read.
    Neutral for me too.

If cross is not a vampire story, then why are we comparing?
I think every author has a right to have their own style, just like we all have our right to hold our own opinions on the style, aims, and content of the writing itself.
I would hate to be an author and be compared to others :(
I think writing is all about individuality and style. Not about 'who is best'.

I finished reading the book the other day. In MY opinion, i thought it was an okay book from a good series. A thing that i liked was how she took myth into her own hands (lol, bella prego); and some stuff i disliked is everyone has a happy ending and it didn't catch any real interest for me until the end. She did the same mistake with Twilight which probably is why a lot of people don't like it.

Another thing i didn't like was the battle scene. Meyer built up a huge battle through out the last 200 pages and then when we get there, there's nothing.

Imagine what the movie's gonna look like.

eh.. i honestly just didn't like Breaking Dawn. Bella seemed to be more pathetic and confused in my book, and when the Twilight movie came out--my like for the books turned into utter hatred for the entire series..-_-
but i applaud Meyer for the unique plotlines and stuff.

it depends on how you read it.
are you saying that, if JK Rowling had written it, the exact same story-line, the exact same content, everything presicely the same, you would like it? Just because stephenie Meyer hadn't written it?
that's how I read that comment. hence my harsh retalliation.

well if you read it like that, i agree.
But i think that person meant if someone took the same content, storyline just wrote it in a different style they'd like it.

yes, I think it's just the way your read things. Personally, I think her style is good and relaxed. but every person to their own.
Sorry if I read the comment wrong, and answered a bit disrespectfully. :)
