You're not alone my friend. Real Vampires don't sparkle. Twilight is basically: Bella I love you but, I'm dangerous! 300 pages later... Bella I love you but, I'm dangerous! The end.

Twilight is awful. You are definitely not the only one around here that thinks it stinks.

The books to me are awful. The writing is the equivalent of an 8th grader at best. Also the shining vampires in sunlight thing was just too much for my soul to bear. I can even take Anne Rice Vampires and have some respect for them so it's not the 'romance' that turns me off the books. Anne Rice has a gift for writing and keeping content flowing. Also, the way these vampires are done up is just not a way I like to see vampires at all.

Of course, I don't like Eragon either and feel it was ripped off. Twilight seems ripped off an anime/manga. I really wish authors lately getting recognition would try to stop stealing their ideas from other sources, or at least credit them to some degree.

I think my favorite versions of vampires are more in the lines of the Blade movies, 30 Days of Night, Dracula, and some other stuff. I thought Buffy was alright and Anne Rice's vampires up to Queen of the Damned were intriguing to me. Twilight version vampires just don't hold a candle to the others. I know some people really love Twilight, but also if you can't take the criticism others have with the series, just as we do when people say they don't like the writing style or movie, or type of vampires portrayed, it's kind of one sided. In the end, we all have our opinions and things we enjoy more.

I feel like replying because people who constantly insult the Twilight series piss me off. :'D

"Like My other Twilght rant dont be going like "OMG ITS SO ORIJEENAL AND UR JEALOUS OF HER SKILLLLZ!!!!!11!11!11"
    and these are my opinions

Kudos to Stephanie Meyer for making the book though, since i know other people like the book and congrats on your book

    Well really now? screw you

    ok

1: Instead of making a vampire, make a brand new creature
I mean, you could seriously call your little creatures "Fooglyhats" for all i care girls and boys will still drool over your ******y sparklers. But for a sense i get you were going a JK Rowling route, (muggles, certin types of wands bla bla bla)

Why not base the book on vampires? Its been done before in dozens of series/ novels, I dont see you complaining about them. This was a unique twist on the idea of vampires existing in our world. Besides, its EXTREMELY difficult to create an entirely new being that hasnt been thought up of yet.

2: Honestly... YOU KNOCKED BELLA UP
What the **** were you thinking? Unlike you, Stephanie Meyer your perfect vampire knows biology, and he guessed he could not knock her up is because
SPERM DIES 3 DAYS AFTER THE HUMAN BODY DIES so you think sperm dead for 100+ years is gonna be so active the babys already kicking a 2 weeks? seriously

Heh. Edward was never sure because there hadn't been many examples of vampires and humans being together before. Lol. This is fiction, why do you think it has to follow normal biology?

3: If you would not listen to #1 at least dont make them DAMN SPARKLE
i mean, if vampire originally sparkled in the first place then the most dramatic part in Interveiw with a Vampire would of never happen (which is the part when they are trapped and burn in the sun)

Okay, so even I thought the sparkle idea was slightly lame, it took away some of their badass style.

But you're comparing it to another production? ._. sure, because all pieces of work that involve similar characters HAVE to follow the same guidelines. :v Thats like saying Gandalf fails because he doesn't hold a wand like Dumbledore does. Lol.

4:Next time you do that month intervels like you did in New Moon, DONT it shows lazyness, well i guess i would allow you to do that for the fact no one wants to read about Bella laying in bed like the worthless ass she is

You're calling a woman who has written many novels lazy? It was a few pages, and it was to emphasize Bella's heartbreak and how empty she was for all those months.

5:Make Bella more of an independent women, you say she is very mature obviously not, if she whimpers in bed when her guy goes away and she JUMPS OFF A CLIFF JUST TO HEAR HIS VOICE!?
i find the very weak and inmature

Hurr durr she is clearly very mature in her head, if a little naive at times. You've obviously never felt heart break. People do all kinds of crazy shit when they lose the people they love :'D

I can't even understand the last sentence :v

    EDIT #1

6: Stephanie Meyer also did the thing that every FANGIRL WILL DO
Its inserting herself into the story as Bella i knew this for a while and never found proof but ALAS! i found it

    link--- http://iheartchaostheory.deviantart.com/art/SMeyer-is-Bella-Anti-Twilight-108774204

Infact, many, many writers do this. The main characters are often based on people from the authors lives and the authors themselves. Oh, and read interviews from SM herself, she doesn't hide the fact Bella is based on her.

im gonna add on to this im too damn lazy myself, glad you read my gibberish"

    I think I'm done 8D

Well if Edward died like.... immediatly that would have made it better.. but probably if anyone in the world other than Stephenie wrote it it would have been great!

Gotta admit, the story wasn't for me, but hey, she was far more creative than anything FF has come up with, but most of y'all eat that up just fine. I agree with Reptar, and everyone's points, so here's what I think:

great story concept, poorly executed, it happens. take it for what it was, a fictional story. I have yet to see the movie, though I have heard some decent things about it...

I can't believe I'm actually discussing this book anymore. Guess lately my hate for it has been swelling.

Ha ha. Let's insult others over a fictional piece of literature :D

Then I really, truly hope that I never have to meet Meyer.

Like I said before, it's ok to put yourself in a story. As long as you're actually interesting. Meyer, as I find from having (unfortunately) read some of the first book, is just plain boring.

Because its been done too many times to be interesting anymore. The other series don't have millions of hive minded teenage fangirls who are hopelessly in love with a fictional character made to be the perfect man pretty much.

And, no, it isn't difficult to think one up. Here's one.

Weregator. People who turn into alligators by drinking Gatorade.

Guess I agree here. Fiction is fiction.

Having the weakness of dying in sunlight gave vampires a mortal factor that could be respected. Imagine, if you will, waking up in the morning and dying, because you forgot to close your bedroom window. Meyer took that, threw it out, and replaced it with sparkling.

We're not talking about her other works. We're talking about the amount of effort she shows in this one. And also, who cares if she's sad when its expressed by boring the reader. If it were interesting, maybe I'd care.

I know of absolutely no person who would ever jump off a cliff because his or her lover died. And I do know lots of people. Sure, the writer was adding drama, but it was overdone, to the point of ridicule.

Then I really, truly hope that I never have to meet Meyer.

Eragon is very much the classic heroic epic. Yes, it seems ripped off, but only in the way that Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and virtually every other heroic story was ripped off - all were heavily based on ancient Greek concepts. Nevertheless, Paolini made Eragon enjoyable. Twilight.... Ugh.

I really liked the book. And I didn't hate the movie. The only thing that turned me away from the series were the fans who go from 'we LOVE the book!!' to 'we HATE the book!!'...other author's did wright better vampire books. personally I like Charlene Harris' series of Dead until Dark.

I, obviously, love the series. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but come on, there could of been a better title to this thread.

Now, Stephanie Meyer, mainly just came up with her own mythology for the book. She stated that the only time she really looked things up about vampires was when Bella looked them up. This vampire concept was based off of a dream that she had, a sparkling vampire and a female in a meadow. So the sparkling, came from her dream.

About the werewolves. She stated that this type of werewolf was pretty much her own "invention", so she just wanted to go with whatever she thought of.

As someone said the writing was the equivalent of an eighth grader, this was the first time that Meyers had even started to write, so everyone has to start somewhere.

Jesus christ people, if you hate the book so much then why the hell are you talking about it?

IMO I thought it was a good series, entertaining to read when I had nothing to do and something that I actually got up off my ass to read. I mean yeah it was annoying when Bella kept describing how perfect Edward; that really ticked me off.

Well I guess you can never change someone's opinion on what they think of something. I just appreciate how the story is written and hence the reason why I find it enjoyable.

I agree COMPLETELY. I don't see how it's interesting. It's sick, wrong, and really really corny. Just my opinion
