I am no fan of Stephen King to be frank. Sometimes his storytelling is sloppy and overrated yet he comments frequently on how other authors have made mistakes or aren't talented. It is ironic.

Twilight is well written for its target audience

    Yeah.

    Twilight = preteen fangirls

Any Steven King book = normal, if slightly twisted, adults

Not that I am a fan of horror in general. I just know my authors.

is it really fair to Meyer that King has said this?

    no

i think King feels threated by Meyer cuz like Rowling...she has made more money and more fame in just 4 books....unlike King who has writen many and is still (no my knowledge) has wealthy has Meyer and Rowling

i think its really kinda dumb that King has to bring himself down to Meyers level...

i love the twilight books...and ive never really read Kings books...but im not stupid and King is a fantastic writer...

i think its stupid when such a famous writer bashes another up and comeing star...

    bad taste

i've never seen or read Twilight but from what i've heard, it seems like people were just expecting too much from it and that's why they were disappointed. the book is a girl book: it's a romantic vampire thing. and the movie is a chick flick. i don't generally expect much from chick flicks and that's why they don't disappoint me cuz i didn't expect much from them to begin with

Stephen King makes me giggle. I believe he has some good points. I hate to agree that in retrospect, Twilight isn't written rather spectacularly. I like the story and plotline, but I never really liked the way she wrote it.
I'm a fan of both Twilight and Stephen King novels so I really don't know what else to say.

Its all a matter of opinion. I liked Twilight even though there was not to much blood and gore and I thought it had a good story. Stephen King was not expecting what his visionary of vampires would be. It all depends on the general audience.

Stephen King's stories are more horror like. Twilight was a good movie and I can't wait for another one to come out. It is different than other vampire movies or books and I guess he doesn't see the way how you can visionlize a vampire that way. You think of blood, gore, and murdering, but this one was just different. It leads to opinion, but I was expecting more blood from Twilight since it is based on vampires even though it was a chick flick or not.

Just curious, what did you mean by that?

I kinda agree with King, but I wouldn't call Meyer's writing terrible. I could not put down Twilight when I read it, even though I'm not a big fan of romance.
However, it was a extremely easy read for me. I finished the book in a few days, which means that I sorta 'skimmed through' some parts, without actually missing anything important. That's something I can't do while reading King, he usually manages to make every little sentence matter.
His characterization is amazing, I'd feel bad for a character I didn't really even like when he/she died. But if Meyer killed off about half of the characters in Twilight, I'd probably be laughing. Too many of the minor characters, and even some of the main ones are really, really annoying.
She can capture her readers very well, though, and the story is well written for the group it's targeted to, I'll give her that. But I doubt that I'll be thinking of some plot-twist from Twilight after a year or so after reading it (which has happened many time's with King's books to me), and I really doubt that Meyer has actually killed herself off in any of her book.

i agree, i know Stephen King is an awesome writer but Stephanie Meyer is also an awesome writer in her own way. Because I like first-person stories, I found her storiy to be an enjoyable read.

Some of King's stories are in first-person. Like the Green Mile, if I remember right.

Oh thanks. I feel great about myself now.

I havent read any of King's works, but I'm trying to sneak one past my parents. Twilight was pretty good, it's differently styled then most of the other vampire books out there. For me anyway. King is supposedly a great writer, but until I read one of his books, I remain nuetral.

He didn't seem to necessarily slam on Twilight; he doesn't think the writing is all that great, but he understands and admires why people like it, it seemed.

i have to agree with that

Also: the only reason why i like the books is because of the whole bella and jacob relashonship
