Your rant seemed to havd made perfect sense to me. o_o That would've been more original with a WHOLE different creature, but it would have been from another idea. Like she wouldn't have the imagination of making something completly new. She would something related to Vampires. Like what Underworld did with Lycans. They are werewolves. Not Lycans. ._.

I love this rant so much.
    #1 & 3 the most.

Vampires are overrated now, should've been more original.

Wow. Thank you. Thank you so much for this.

I agree with 3 and 5. When I first read Twilight, my reaction was vaguely something like "Why do they sparkle?" but I ignored it cause I wanted to finish the freaking thing. Now, I still don't see the point. At all. I mean, really. Sparkling? Vampires? No, just no.

Also, Bella's clinginess annoyed me. A lot. It was only tolerable for most of the first book, and then I pretty much hated her after that. Then Edward went and started acting the exact same way. Then you add in the fact that Rosalie's a complete *****... well, I pretty much hate all of the characters in that book.

Thanks again for this. It needed to be said.

Okay, even though I do like Twilight, I really have to agree with you. You made a lot of good points in this rant that make a lot of since. Especially about the baby.

Also, I do think it would of been good if she made up her own creature, not really a vampire, but maybe something close to it.

The fact a rant was made in the first place to counter-act a novel of sub-par writing with sad attempts at sounding intelligent, shows how bored you are. lol XD <3 love you too.

This book is nothing more than a time-waster. If you're bored, go for it, it's worth it if you need to pass the time. As for me, I did a little research over vampire mythology and werewolf mythology and was quite displeased at how much was changed. The general foundation was kept the same, though (such as immortality, however for all of the wrong reasons in Twilight, and the red eyes and near perfect features). She took a portion of vampire mythology and turned it into a book with its own reality. That's either horribly inaccurate or very creative. I can't decide yet.

Did you ever stop to think that she wanted to make vampires into something her own? and that she's allowed to be creative and imaginative?
so what if she bases herself as the character

If you've ever read her page, it started with a dream... I know plently of books that's started with a dream

    http://stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html

before ranting, read what she has to say... and if you've already read it, then at least give her credit for the hard work she's done.. she spent the past what..3-4 years writing books?

literature is praised by me, whether it be 'n00bish' or proffesional..

As Reptar said, if Meyer were so creative, she could have easily just made her own mythological creatures, rather than ruining the 1,000 year or so old legend of the vampire, which media already is doing, so something like Twilight, which practically made superheros that suck blood and labeled them "vampires". They don't transfigure into bats, or die in sunlight, two of the essentials for a real vampire.

Also, I wouldn't mind if the writer were cast as a character in her own story, if she were actually interesting. Bella is nothing more than a boring, *****y, over-dramatic teenage girl ripped straight out of some coffee-drinking depression corner and put into a seemingly miraculous position with the ever-so-annoyingly perfect Edward. But oh, he's a vampire that might kill her. But does he ever kill her? Nope. He falls for a girl with nothing special about her. Seriously. Give me one example of Bella acting like a fun fictional character rather than one of the countless depressed teenagers I have to see everyday.

And, seriously, who cares if it was her dream. That's like saying a scribble drawn by Chris Brown was an amazing piece of art cause he saw it in a dream.

End rant. Sorry, but...I just can't find anything likable about this book anymore.

like i said.. if you've already read what i put
at least give her credit for the long days and the long years she put in effort for this book

say you write a book or something, then it get's trashed, and you believe you did a great job and all that work

wouldn't you want your work appreciated?

I like the Twilight series, but you do have some valid points, especially with the baby, and the whole cliff thing. I was like WTF? at that part, because she didn't think of anyone else at that point, just her happiness. This rant was entertaining, so thank you.

I hated that. I mean seriously, it reminded me of like about 50 Twilight fanfics I read. I just didn't even see the point of that whole book. Honestly, they should have ended it at Eclipse...

    Your rant is quite vaild.

Actually, they're lycanthropes. Werewolf and lycanthrope mean the same thing. Lycan is just the shortened version.

u have some valid points but i still think you're wrong, the series is pretty good (Movie could be better tho..)

1.How many movies or books make a brand new "creature"? now compare that to how many movies/books use werewolves or vampires but change somethings about them? Blood and Chocolate, Underworld, Cursed, any Dracula movie. It's better to use an old creature with new features. Creating a new monster means creating new myths. Plus they're not technically vampires. Vampires is just the closest thing to a word to call them. In the Twilight universe, vampire myths come from the creatures that the Cullen's are.

    2. Again: He's not technically undead, hes just living in a completely different way. and undead is not dead. So his sperm could still be active.

    3. Interview with a Vampire? What the hell does that have to do with Twilight? what does any other vampire movie/book/media have to do with Twilight? nothing whatsoever.

    4. Because this is the only book that skips a period of time? No. And she had a whole year to cover, how long would that book be if she covered every day or week?

    5. I agree with this. But its unconditional love. People do crazy things for what they think is love. SO what would they do for unconditional love? Example: Bella

6.90% of books use aspects of the author's life in some way. Author's insert their friends/families in their books. When an author says "the character i can relate to the most is..." they say it because they modeled that character after themselves!

you had one good point. other than that, you're ignorant. You want to hate on her work? Come up with actual faults that make her books suck.

    and another thing:
guess what, bro? At least she can write a bestselling series that also gets adapted into film?
What have you done with your life?

I'll have to disagree with you here. In your first point you mentioned that you wanted her to make her own creature, and the sparkling gave an old monster a new twist. She redefined the vampire her books -- she showed the reader that vampires didn't have to wear capes, have fangs, or burn in the sunlight.
I actually enjoyed that she did that. It first of all showed how Bella's life began to revolve around Edward, and how everything would seem so empty and pointless to her if he wasn't around. Most teenage girls idolize their boyfriends and are very clingy to them, and Bella was like that to a whole other degree -- whether it be part of her personality or because Edward is not a human.
Once again, that showed how desperate Bella had become without Edward.

Well im glad that you came up with these, heck i already knew i was ignorant
and who said i was even near interested in making books? i want to be a dentist

and heck i said these are my opinions and i dont think anyones opinions should be accounted for 'wrong'

Actually, considering overall originality, character depth, use of imagery and solidity of overall plot, I can name several less popular but more talented writers. I wouldn't be suprised if there were more talented writers on this site.
I wonder, what is it that makes Twilight so popular? I don't think it excels in any particular area.
