Namine is a special nobody like Roxas. Nobodies are supposed to have the memories of their original life but Namine and Rozxas were made in a different way.

I would think that Namine came to exist the way she did, from the memories Sora had of Kairi. That would generally explain why her name wasn't anything like Rixaik or something. It would also explain why she is able to manipulate memories, when Kairi could do nothing of the sort.

She's not a Nobody, per say. She definitely has a body made of Naught, but it's hard to clearly say much about her. But I think it makes more sense that she was made from Sora's memories and feelings for Kairi, and that's why Namine looks like Kairi, even though the princess never succumbed to the darkness.
After all, if anything, Kairi was more a Nobody than Namine was, since she literally existed without a heart for most of the first game.

You do bring up some valid points. Also, the thing with Sora being a Heartless and being renewed wasn't accurately explained. Here's what I think though.

Although a Heartless spawns from the darkness in one's heart, it has to take on some kind of tangible form. When Sora was turned into a Shadow, he had a physical form. When Kairi restored him, I guess it kind of made him a new body. (Although a bit inadequate I guess, seeing as Shadows are pretty tiny. That would be why he's incomplete.) The funny thing is, throughout the games, there is nothing dealing with the mind. Just the body, heart, and soul. The heart is the center of emotions, and the soul is that which powers the body. When the soul leaves, the person dies. When the heart leaves, it creates a Nobody. (Don't remember where I read that. Maybe an Ansem's Report.) So when Sora got a new body, I guess he got some new "life energy"? o_0 Sounds kinda weird if you say "got a new soul"... but yeah. That's what I think.

Not necessarily. She corresponds to Kairi as her nobody, although she isn't a nobody.

A good analogy would be to say it's like when a child gets a new mother after being orphaned. She is like a mother to her, yet she is technically not her mother.

Another thing to note: Naminé is not different because Kairi has no darkness in her heart, she is different because Kairi's heart migrated to Sora, and was later released from Sora's body instead of her own. It makes sense that Sora's feelings and memories of Kairi are what created Naminé's subsequent 'body.'

Also, we don't know if other nobody's names are anagrams or not because we only know one who isn't part of the organization. We don't know the names of dusks or dansers, we just know the type they are.

Naminé's name contains "nami" (波, "nami"?), a Japanese word meaning "ocean wave", likely a reference to Kairi's name, which contains "kai" (海, "kai"? , also read as "umi"), for "ocean".

Also, on a side note, Nobody or not... Could Namine' have just as easily rejoined with Sora??

The analogy doesn't work for me, and makes no sense. A mother is a mother. A Nobody is an entire species. Nothing I've seen or what you've said suggests to me that Namine is not a full-fledged Nobody.

The more we say, the more confusing things get, so it would be best to wait for the next Kingdom Hearts to come out and it will tell something (as the next one is going to give some explaination to origin of everything). Also, I don't know if Nomura is going to put in some new types beside the Nobody and Heartless.

Ok, I will explain it a different way.

A nobody is the body and soul of a person with a strong will after they lose their heart.

After someone loses their heart, their body goes to the realm of in-between to become a nobody.

Naminé is not Kairi's body and soul, in fact, she isn't anyone's body and soul. Since she is not Kairi's body and soul, she is NOT her nobody.

Kairi's body and soul stayed in the realm of light and never left to the realm of in-between, therefore she has no nobody.

This is not just my opinion or something I found on some whacko theory site or something. The fact that Naminé is not a nobody is stated within the game. It's funny it's causing so much argument.

Namine is probably half heartless, half nobody. If that is even possible. She isn't truly a nobody, and not truly a heartless. Half nobody, cause her Kairi's heart never really went into darkness, or the in between, only her mind. Half Heartless, cause I think that maybe that just barely, Kairi's heart was barely, just barely polluted with darkness. I mean, during KH1. When Kairi's is flying towards Sora in the cavern. I think, in that mere moment her heart was vulnerable to the darkness. Oh look... I'm rambling again XD

Are you going to back that opinion up?

In the secret Ansem reports, pages 9 and 10.

I guess that kinda makes sense. I'm not quite sure what she is, I'm just sure what she isn't.

Have you all ever noticed that they never ever refer to Naminé as a nobody? she is usually referred to as a witch. I do hate when they call her that though, it sounds really mean. In CoM (Riku's story) Larxene asks Naminé if she knows what the connection between her and Kairi is and she replies, "I'm Kairi's shadow."

Since she is not Kairi's body and soul she is not her nobody. It is as simple as that.

Um... if you said no one has referred to her as a Nobody, then I think that's not quite true. You see, when she talks to Axel in Floor Nine in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of memories, Axel said to her: "Don't get your hopes up! You should know, Nobody cannot become Somebody", which referred to both Namine and Axel himself isn't it? But well, other than that, there's no other who has been calling her a Nobody, not that I remembered. I remembered there was this one time, well,... when she tried to explained to Roxas that he's a Nobody, then DiZ and Riku take her away, the last thing she said to Roxas (in the English version) was: "Roxas. Nobodies like us are only half a person." Maybe she's saying that she's a nobody, but you know, there is that Secret Ansem Report #9, which saying she is a non-being, which kind of pin pointed the whole thing (less than half a person, what else can you say but a non-being). But how the heck can Ansem make a report when one he said Nobodies are non-existence, and then referred to Namine who is less than a Nobody a non-being, don't they have the same meaning? Anyway talk about her make me wants to talk about the E.S, maybe all three E.S has became non-beings after the battle with "Old Chrome Dome with a Goatie", then again I'm just saying this out of the blue, so what does it matter.

Roxas & Namine are special nobodies, due to the way they were born (the whole hearts in Sora thing).

They are nobodies, just very special.

True, I remember what Axel and Naminé said now.

Well, I guess Axel may not have understood what she was. As for Naminé, she it's sad enough to be a nobody, but imagine how horrible it would be to not even be a nobody?

She may have called herself a shadow before because Vexen or some of the organization members might have got mad at her if she called herself a nobody.

Also, from a dramatic point of view, I'm pretty sure we head Diz mention nobodies before, so it would be the first time it would connect 'nobodies' to Roxas. It's a moment that foreshadows Sora and Roxas' connection.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the ES. The thing about Naminé is that she is sort of a once in a lifetime chance. Someone like her may never come along again.

    You would need.

    1. a heart free of darkness to migrate to another body
    2. a keyblade that can manipulate peoples hearts (made of six other pure hearts)
    3. the person who now has two hearts would need to be willing to rip them out.
    4. They would both need strong wills.
    5. And love is a possible factor

Someone like Naminé is a rarity, so I don't think so, yet it is still not impossible.

  19. Can Naminé simply call herself a shadow because that's what she is. That's what a Nobody is. A shadow. By saying she's Kairi's shadow, she perhaps meant that she is only a pigment of Kairi herself, and will never replace her.

Naminé is a Nobody. A non-being means she isn't suppose to be well...a being. She shouldn't exist. Hence, a Nobody. She was special because she formed out of both Sora and Kairi (Kairi's heart, Sora's soul and body), and that's how she gained her powers. That's it, really.

Roxas is special also because he is a keyblade wielder's Nobody, and thus can use the keyblades just as well.

Also, Naminé, does in actuality, only manipulate Sora's memories and those connected to him. In fact, she said it herself in KHII.

Naminé: I'm a witch with power over Sora's memories and those around him.

And she also refers to herself as a Nobody, as said before by someone.

Naminé: Roxas. Nobodies like us are only half a person. You won't disappear. You'll be whole!

And then there's the scene in TWTNW.

Naminé: I always thought Nobodies were doomed to fade back into darkness...

Roxas: Yeah, but you and I didn't. We got to meet our original selves.

Can't fight canon. So that's my opinion on the whole thing.

Man, I just want Namine and Roxas to come back in the next one. Well, you know, Ven is related to Roxas somehow, so there must be something involved him in the next title (I don't spend a whole night playing those 6 days of Roxas just so he fade back to oblivion.) If things involve Roxas which will involve Sora, then it will involve Kairi which will involve Namine (of course Riku is involving). Man, Nomura, you're killing me.

Let's change the subject for a few minutes, everyone think that Roxas is "true" Nobody, because I know the dude got some hearts inside him. Remember when he lost his memories, he act with the other guys just like any ordinary kid, you can't pretend to have feelings when you don't know that you're a Nobody. He was sad, he cried (which makes Sora cries out of the blue), those feelings seem pretty true to me,..... well..... to me. So what do you say is Roxas a true Nobody here? Is he the same kind as Xemnas (whom we know pretty well that has nothing inside except for a big hole)? Short discussion, start, after this we may able to relate him to Namine (maybe not).
