I see the recent topic relating to a man giving birth sparked off some controversy, so I started this thread to find out what people's opinions are on transgender people.

Personally, I don't understand why someone would want to change gender, but each to his own I guess and I have nothing against it really, and I'm not biased towards transgender people at all.

Sometimes people do it because they don't think that they were supposed to be that way. Honestly, at first I thought I should have been a guy... but I wouldn't change myself. Anyways...the person thought of changing because she didn't know if she was supposed to be a guy or girl. She made her mind and changed herself.

Other times they do it because they don't enjoy being the gender they currently are.

Same reasons dudes play as chicks on Teen-Adult-Mature MMO's: they want to see how the other side enjoys "it", or they want to escape the bigotry of the real world. Since they can do it in the real world, radical people change their sex for money that could instead feed every 3rd world country.....sort of no joke........it's really expensive and unneccasary.

I'm sort of unbiased on this issue. I can't really say I'm totally unbiased because I'm Catholic, Right-wing, homophobic, and I just don't like the entire deal quite personally even if I were Atheist, Left-wing, and non-homophobic...it's just my own thoughts on the whole deal. But then again, I have such a level of understanding and insight, I can understand at least to a degree and not be bigotted.

Because being homosexual isnt enough for them?

I agree with what others have said, but maybe they want to be homo-heterosexual...?

If you can understand that, your a god.

But seriously, maybe they really worry or consider their appearance heavily.

Well technically they are. The notion of changing you appearance while still being your original gender at heart so to speak seems homosexual to me.

Eh. It's either all part of entertainment or just a need to do it, from uncomfort the way you are, etc..

I really don't care about it, to be honest. It might freak people out a little, though.

Didn't think of it that way.

I really don't mind, if that's what the person feels more comfortable being. However, some people that want sex changes will just want it because they feel the grass is greener on the other side and want to be that gender because it's 'better'. When reality sinks in that both genders have negatives to them, what then? So, that would be my only hang up on it, other than the fact I don't think I could 'be' with someone who was transgender as it would be too awkward for me. It's their choice though what they want to do and I wouldn't judge them in any way other than I wouldn't really want to go out with a person who was that way.
