I want a smart phone that is open enough for me to change anything I dislike about it, while maintaining a great deal of support community. Furthermore, I do not want it to become out of date any time soon. So far, I have my eye on this one, but I could also order it from here if I want warranty. I'm looking to spend up to $405 USD, but I suppose I could go over if I really had to. I plan on using it to text, browse the web and to install interesting 3rd party apps on. Oh, and shipping to NZ is a must. Thoughts/opinions/advice, KHV?
I personally recommend something from the HTC Desire family. Still Android, which is all good (Y). I only have the regular HTC Desire, but it's the best phone I've ever had, and I use it for everything you said that you'd like to use your phone for. The only problem I had was that I couldn't set a chosen music file for a text tone or alarm tone, but you can download apps such as Shuffletone2.0 (which is my favourite app for my phone XD) or Alarm+ for things like that. Everything else is great. I even browse KHV with my phone, I just don't post since it tends to be a pain with all the coding etc.
I agree with getting a HTC Desire... Although you could just go with a simple iPhone, iv'e recently gotten the iphone 4 on contract and it is amazing.
if your willing to spend 500 to 600 some bucks on an iphone then be my guest but just to worn you if your looking for a phone that's light weight then the iphone probably wouldn't be the best choice, my aunt has an iphone and she says it's thick and heavy, anyway I personally use the LG Vortex but it's probably not the best phone if you want to do texting though I use it to text I use a special method that the phone has for texting vm me if you wish to know what that method is, but if I were you I'd just go with what bushy brow mentioned...the HTC Desire.^ ^
Anything with Android is brilliant. Apparently the HTC series it brilliant. As long as you know what you want, you'll be fine
well sometimes the shipping for those thing's on ebay is a lot, so when you compare the shipping with the bidding or buy it now price of the phone it jacks the price up to more then the starting price of the item.
I have a friend who has the iphone 4 and he loves it. Weight isn't really going to matter THAT much. Plus if you jailbreak it (that is legal kids) you unlock its full potential.
